I was wondering if anyone has experienced (or even have any opinions) on trying to conceive again after a c-section?
I had my c-section nearly 5 months ago and I would love to conceive again. I was in the process of doing a natural labour when my blood pressure went up and my baby's heart beat became irratic. This was all 1 week past my baby's due date.
I've been told (from pamphlets and people in general) that I will need to wait one year for my internals to heal completely and for my body to be ready for another go and birthing. However if I do wait that one year, I'd probably try for a vaginal birth.
Your advice and experiences would be greatly appreciated!
It all depends on your recovery post c/s, if you had much bleeding etc.
My OB said as long as I didn`t conceive within the first 6 weeks post c/s, I could try when I liked, so we decided to start TTC after my post natal check up, I was exclusively breastfeeding but conceived 5.5 months post c/s, I then went on to have a VBAC.
I fell within 3 months of having a c/s with Kat. They were willing to let me go VBAC, but Jess turned transverse at 38wks so had another c/s. Ob/gyn at hosp said all looked great and was able to have another whenever I felt like it. I am a fast healer, but I had expected probs from falling so fast. Other than some bad stretching pains and m/s from day one to 13wks, all was fine... If you feel you are ready and you have NO pain at all from c/s site/internal pains when stretching/moving etc, I'd say ur body can handle it. So go for it and goodluck! The time line most dr's give you is a guide. Everyone is different and so everyone's healing time is different! Goodluck honey! Hope you have an easy TTC and pgcy and get the VBAC you so want!
Well I am pregnant and my DD is 11 months old next week. I have heard that you are best to wait a year but I could not wait lol I am also going to try for a VBAC.
And at this point I have no idea how far along I am but no ms yet and I only have a sore back so I cant be to far along.
Had Hunter as a C/S as he was breech but Riley was a very successful, full term, no-drugs VBAC. I healed very quickl after Hunter but we still waited 2 years before ttc Riley as I really wanted to give my body the best chance for a natural birth. Everyone is different so talk to your doctor before you ttc. Best of luck!!
Another quick healer here too. My personal choice is to wait 12 months at least to give everything the best chance of being ready. It is also better for you if you can give yourself at least 18 months between pregnancies but conceiving before that time doesn't mean that you will necessarily experience problems.
Definitely seek advice from your doctor and then you will be able to make the right decision for you.
