    Contraception between babies

I just had my 4 week MCH appt and of course contraception was discussed. It got me thinking, because I know that I will have to discuss it with my Ob next week too. I am breastfeeding so the pill (not minipill) is not an option, and there is a possibility that I will have another baby down the track. I'm not even sure I know what is available and suitable...

So what have others done for contraception between babies?

We used condoms and then got sick of that because they hurt too much - and we much prefer NOT to use them

So now we just DTD in the non fertile parts of my cycle if we aren't TTC Worked so far!!

Interesting!! We were pretty much the same last time, condoms and billings method! I just wondered if there are other options because they just aren't that much fun really!

We used condoms. We didn't find them a hassle and we both enjoyed me being off hormonal contraception. So after this baby we'll have to look at something else because I'm never going on the pill again.

If condoms didn't cause me pain during sex, then I would definitely stick with them over any other hormonal contraception. That's why I'm not on the pill

We decided to go with condoms because it took a long time to get our DD, so didnt want to stuff my hormones around. We did discuss a diaphragm too but havent gotten around to that. Condoms arent great but it sure beat anything else for us at this stage.

I use a diaphragm... it's better than condoms... statistically the failure rate is somewhat higher than condoms or hormonal contraception but we both hate condoms and hormonal contraception makes me crazy and miserable. They can be hard to get fitted and track down, but if you contact your local family planning association they should be able to do it for you.

We use condoms, I haven't been back on the pill since I came off it to ttc ds1. It took me a couple of months for my cycle to get back on track once coming off it and I just didnt like what it does to your body's natural cycle so decided to stay off it. This might sound lazy and definitely tmi but we even use them when preg lol cause its less clean up for me lol...except when I was past my edd and wanted the progesterone hehe

Wow - It surprises me how many use condoms!! I thought there would be heaps of other options!! I don't react well on the pill either, so have been on it and off it before getting pregnant with Jett, and I can be really bad at taking it too, so I end up using condoms for the rest of the cycle anyway!!

Arimeh - Are you allergic to latex or something?

Jas - Hehe about the less clean up! True!!

We used condoms too, until we got sick of them. I'm never going on the pill again either. When I stopped it to TTC DD my cycle was never regular again in the yr it took to conceive her.

I used the mini pill. Didn't really have any issues with it that I noticed at all. I stopped taking it when I got to the end of the month and had my period and then four weeks later my period was back like clock work, next month I was 2 days late and then realised I was pregnant. Seemed to work pretty well lol

I use depo provera. The 3 monthly injections. Its fine while bfing, but is still basically the pill. & it did take a while to concieve while off it.
This time around DH was working away & I was bfing with very irregular af, so for some reason I thought I was safe... obviously not! lol
I actually had what I thought was af, but what I think now was an ovulation bleed. It was so much fun trying to work out how far pg I was!!

I usually use the mini pill, or condoms. After having DD2 we weren't using any protection as we thought we'd just dtd in the 'safe' time of my cycle. And now I'm 35 weeks pg with #3. Guess that didn't work.

Uhhh nooo... the rubbery bit down the bottom rubs on me and it really hurts.. LOL... doesn't matter how much... uhhh... lubrication there is either, it rubs anyway.

Plus DH isn't a fan of them, so we both hate using them.. LOL

    Contraception between babies

I used the mini pill after dd1 never again, it made me so hungry I stacked on 10kgs really fast and I had breakthrough bleeding. We swapped to condoms, and then after dd2 we didn't use anything, I guess that's why we are having no 3 so close. After this one I will probably go back on the implant implanon until we have decided for certain that three is enough.
