Yes they are often irregular, you can already be ovulating too, check out the article on mucus observations on the main site to get an idea if you aren't sure!
Hello,
I had a little girl, Macy 11 weeks ago, it was a normal vaginal birth and i bled for 3-4 weeks. She is my first baby.
At about 7 weeks after the delivery i had a 5 day bleed which i think was a period. I am exclusively breast feeding, so was not sure that's what it was. However she does sleep for about 6 hours through the night wihtout a feed. (lucky me!)
It is now week 11 and a half, and i have had no sign of another period.
Is it normal for periods to come back and be irregular? Or could i be pregnant? Did anyone else fall pregnant so soon even if they were exclusivley BF?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

I have read article and think i may do a test as i did notice some stringy/ stretchy mucas on about day 15 or so.
It is day 33 today so i may wait until day 35 to ensure i get an accurate result!
Thank again,

how did u go chantel?
i bled for 6-7weeks afterwards had a week off and then 4 days which i thoiught may be AF. But haven't had anything since.
I think every new mom worries that she might be pregnant in the first few months after birth. I know it is possible, but don't worry too much about irregular periods while you are breastfeeding. Your hormones will be all over the map, and it will take a little while for things to get back to "normal". My younger daughter is 7 1/2 months, and I have had some bleeding off and on, occasionally, and one heavy period, as well as a couple times where my CM indicated ovulation, with no period. And to the best of my knowledge, I am not, and have not been pregnant. I know sometimes, when you are exhausted with getting up with your baby and adjusting to your new role, you think it must be another pregnancy! But chances are pretty good that it's not. By all means, keep an eye on your cervical mucous, and talk to your doctor, or test, if you are concerned. Congrats with your daughter, by the way - All the best.

Im going through the same thing! Very nervous!! My DS is 7.5 months. I had my period when he was 3 months and then again when he was 6 months. However I have over the last week or so noticed that my nipples are EXTREMELY sore and sensitive and I am really worried that I might be pregnant again. I dont usually get it before a period, only when I was pregnant with my two boys. Im choosing to ignore it for the time being and hope that it will go away! ahaha! I am also fully breastfeeding, however he is eating a few meals a day and isnt BFing as much as a couple of months ago...who knows, maybe I am pregnant again!. ahhhhhhhhh!!
