    extra pink bits

(please be gentle, it has taken me a lot to post this)

i want to know if what i see is normal, or ok (not 'normal' but variation from normal), or needs to have something done.

i had a VB 8 weeks ago, posterior bub, long pushing stage, vacc incl episiotomy

i feel violated by some of what happened (not ready to go into that) and so are not keen to have anyone looking down there at the moment. i refused examination at my 6 week appt, and they actually accepted this.

however, if i look at my vg there are extra pink bits that weren't there before. not sure if i tore internally and that's what i see or if when they cut me their repair was dodgy, or if bits are falling out, or i'm growing extra bits. is there somewhere on-line or a book i can get that has photos or descriptions i can compare to?

    thank you

When you say your not sure if bits are falling out, does it feel like they are, or any different? How's your pelvic floor? It could be related to the epi, or a prolapse, or a number of things.
Do you have a good gp? If you do maybe book a double appointment and go in an have a good debrief of the whole thing when you are ready.

If you're worried about bits falling out maybe google uterine prolapse and see if the symptoms fit. Here is a link to the Mayo clinic with a list of symptoms. Uterine prolapse: Symptoms - MayoClinic.com

I think that for lots of women things never look the same down there afterwards but they function just as well as before. Keep up your pelvic floor exercises because they will help your recovery.

I have more than slight bladder issues so if it's something you want or are up to discussing feel free to ask or pm. I'd have the assessment but if you are not comfortable now then ask them if you can defer it for a while.

ok. feeling brave. i was going to PM but this info might help someone else too (if you ok). can you explain how they do the assessment? i was just told it was done 'vaginally'.

Kate, is it just like extra skin around the opening (sorry if TMI)? I have something similar if it is and I had a c/s I assumed it was something hormonal that caused some changes.

Ummm my inner flaps are now much bigger than my outer flaps ( so I look not a thing like my DD's ), I hate them but BHL isnt worried by it... I also ripped my right flap ( sorry I dont know the real names bad I know lol ) and they didnt stich it up properly after I had DS so now have this really bad funky none matching flap, with a little hole in it so if I so desierd I could put a ear ring in there lol... but if you think its more than that then get yourself checked out, I have bladder issues too, cant sneeze without a little pee coming out, now that I am UTD again I cant have MS without wettign myself too, not nice.... but your not on your own...

Ok. Tmi for anyone who doesn't want to know.

Mine was to measure pelvic floor muscle strength and was done by a female continence physio who I'd been seeing anyway after ds2 cos nothing was getting better.
Basically it was like a vag. exam that an ob might do, so gloves on etc she needed to feel whether my muscles were working ( Which they sort of were) which involved 1-2 fingers being used to feel what was there because I couldn't and still can't feel much. Turns out one side is great ad the other well the muscles appear to have completely torn away. Add to that an irritable bladder. It was also when I learned I had a prolapse.

If it's an exam to check for prolapse it will be much thesame but probably quicker.

Eta: all of my physio was free through the hospital

Another one here with a prolapse, but mine is at the front of my vaginal wall. It feels kind of bulgy and makes DTD uncomfortable. I am meant to see a special physio, but just don't have the dollars at the moment.

Yeah, it is a pelvic floor muscle strength assessment that i have been offered. I am seeing the physio through the women's hospital. thanks for explaining.

    Hi Kate
Seeing changes like this can really shake you up a bit. As others have said it could be related to a couple of things.
OK so you and I do not know each other. It is also very unlikely that we will ever meet IRL so if you feel up to it send me a pic of the extra pink bits and I will see if I can tell you what the problem is.
    alan@yourmidwife.com.au
No one else will ever see the pic apart from me and I will delete it as soon as I have discussed with you what I think the problem is. If you are not yet up to sending me a pic that’s fine. Just ignore this post.
