    Period Already?

DS is just over 4 weeks and my bleeding post birth has been minimal (wearing liners type of minimal). Today its kicked up a notch and its bright red blood.

Could it be my period already?

Has anyone else got their period back so soon after birth?

    Ta!

Have you been more active in the last few days at all? More walking, exercise, lifting, sex? That can sometimes make bleeding heavier.

I doubt it's your period. How much are you bleeding? Lochia can come back if you've been doing too much and pushing yourself.

I say this not to scare you, but to make you aware, that you also need to watch out for postpartum hemorrhage. If you're bleeding alot or for too long I would be talking to your midwife, MCHN or GP.

    Re: Period Already?

I had got my period back 4 weeks post partum despite fulltime expressing (couldn't bfeed straight away due to DDs prematurity)

So id say yes, it's quite possible.

    Thanks for the speedy replies

I have flown down to Brissy for Uni yesterday and we walked lastnight to get some dinner.

I've been expecting it to start up considering the retained products I've got. I can feel my uterus contracting here and there.

I tried to call my GP to find out what my Hb levels are as if they are still low from the PPH i had, I want to be aware so I can monitor my blood loss.

Hoping it is lochia and my body trying to pass the RPOC as I dont want to have to go for another d&c.

P.S. - Another questions... For those who were breastfeeding... Did you notice that bubs was more fussy/unsettled around the time you got your period?

DS has been pretty upset the last day or two and I couldnt work out if it was from flying or something I've eaten.

Yep I noticed DD1 got fussy for AF. I also might have AF right now and DD2 has been fussy. But, I forgot you had retained products. I'd say it would be because of that that your bleeding picked up. I was only very lightly spotting at 2 weeks PP, then my body started trying to get rid of the RPOC and bleeding became heavy until a piece passed, then slowed, then heavy when more came out.

    Cool. Thanks hun.

Hopefully all just progresses as it should. I hate being out of touch with my own body but there's nothing like the postpartum stage to do it to ya!

I had something very similar. Hardly anything for a couple of weeks then a big bout of bleeding.
I'd still keep an eye on it though.

    Ok.

I feel so silly asking for advice! You'd think I should know all this stuff but I'm a little bit dumb at the moment!

    Thanks Kim xx

It can do that sometimes. You think its going to fizzle out to nothing then seems to start up again. So could just be post birth loss still. Happened to me this time too.
