Hair loss

Ok...so it's finally started happening LOL. I'm not losing heaps or anything like that....certainly nothing excessive, but defnitely a lot more than usual and I'm finding it EVERYWHERE....gotta laugh when I find it on Jacob!!!

How many other people have experienced hair loss after PG and how long after giving birth did it start to happen? Jacob is 14w old tomorrow and it's been happening for about a week.

I got Af back after 2 months and my hair went wild.....really thick and bouncy.....it was great! Then when we finished BF (about 3 months ago) my hair "flopped" but didn't fall out. And just this past 2 weeks I have noticed it is falling out a bit.......(but now I am pregnant again, no idea what will happen with my hair next!)

Hi Tootie,

This was just discussed in 1-6mth forum I think as a new topic. My hair loss is just calming down now after a couple of months of loosing a fair bit of it. I am glad I have thick hair.

OMG. I'm going through all of that right now. I can't believe the amount of hair that I am losing everyday. Think I'm gonna be going bold soon. I thought that it was just me and that it wasn't normal. Losing more hair now then when I was pregnant. So glad that there are other people in the same boat as me.

old topic i know but i was just about to ask this question when i saw this....

is it normal to lose this much hair ?? Jaykob is 8 weeks, its started in the past week or so, im breastfeeding..

My hair has really gone to the dogs lately, its a bit depressing because ive always had nice and easy to maintain hair....

I did loose heaps of hair starting when Matilda was 12 weeks until she was 18 weeks and I was bf for the most of that time. I had handfuls of it coming out in the shower...

One thing girls to note that thyroid problems can come about during hormonal changes post baby and if you have any other symptoms get them checked by you GP... I was lethargic as well & just plain ol yucky so I went to GP to get checked & I was a bit out of whack...

I said earlier in thisa post that I was loosing heaps of hair and Jaykob is almost 5mths now and it still falls out in clumps!

I went to the gp and told him that its ridiculous! I hav cut my hair shorter to stop the mess even!

Anyway, he was no help but the girls at my local chemist were.

They suggested a multi vitamin, one that contains plenty of zinc, as zinc is the key ingredient.

Nextthe suggested Silcia. Its a vitamin for hair and Nails.

Not only has the hair loss slowed a bit ( not completely but noticably ) my nails are looking great lol

Anyway, hope this is of use to someone!

I think I will have to stock up on multi-vitamins because my hair is falling out like crazy. I feel like I am malting!
The bathroom is a mess. During and after a shower, my hair comes out several strands at a time. When I comb it, soooo much falls to the floor. I get it all over Gabby if she is in her bouncer in the bathroom. It's just ridiculous! I am gonna be bald!!!

Interesting this topic should pop back up. I laughed as I read my first post and how I was talking about my hair falling out when Jacob was 14w old. It is still falling out now and he's nearly 1 year old!! PMSL It's the same as you Deb - comes out strands and strands at a time. DH is always complaining about my hair being on everything!!! LOL

thankfully mine has eased up ALOT ... its much more managable now but when it was falling out it was really scary..

Okay. This is just ridiculous LOL. My hair's been falling out since Kynan was about 10 weeks and yesterday I brushed heaps out before having a shower and then when I washed my hair I still had so much falling out that it acted as a better plug than our actual plug! Aargh!

My hair got sooo thick when i was pregnant and started lose it when Lily was about 3mths old. I was losing so much, like Angel said, my hair was a better plug then a real one in the shower! It has only just started to ease off and Lily is 9mths old, im surprised i still have anything left and it is still quite thick!

My hair is still falling out and plugging up the pipes.

Did anyone else notice other hair falling out as well? My lower hair 8-[ started falling out from the time Matthew was about 10 days, thought I`d end up bald down there, it did stop when Matthew was about 2.5 months old.

Yep hair falling out here and plugging the plug hole too What a bugger this has to happen.

I thought there was something wrong with me when I noticed strands of hair everywhere.....
I went to the hairdressers and she cut it into a more manageable style- with length, it's much more healthy now. Apparently Omega 3 fatty acids are good too for strengthening your hair.
My hair was completely normal all through the pregnancy though.
