Question 6 week check-up - what should happen?

We've just been for our six week check-up at the doctor. The doctor checked over Caeleb and all was fine. For me, she just asked if I was bleeding still or had any discharge.

So, my question is, is this all they do for the mother at the six week check up???

    Thank you in advance.

My GP also checked my tummy - poke prod ! and asked if my wound was ok (from c/s). He asked questions regarding PND and if all was ok emotionally, and if I felt like I was coping with the demands of being a new mum. We also talked about contraception. Not sure if this is standard or not. HtH.

Celsie, mine was pretty much like yours. He jst asked me if I was feeling ok or still sore, if I was still bleeding, if we had DTD yet, if I was brestfeeding or bottlefeeding. I also asked him to check how much stitches were healing. We didnt talk about PND though and I dont think we tlked about my daughters birth.

I was due for a pap smear so I had one of those too And an internal, with a pelvic floor muscle 'test'.
I'm pretty sure she didn't feel my belly, tho...? She gave us a contraception talk, talk about DTD (ie how to be more comfy), talked about depression etc.

Amy - what did they do for your "test"?

Oh Danni... that is really bad. They are supposed to do the same check on the baby that they did at hospital before you left.

Kerry - my tummy is fine. Thank you for asking.

Celsie, no big deal. She talked to me about the excersises, then when she was doing the internal, told me to do one so she could feel if the muscles were strengthening back up.
Actually, while it was all pretty uncomfortable (not physically, but YKWIM) it was good to be told things were going well.
OMG, Caeleb is so adorable! What a lovely picture!

I was told that it should be the same for both of us like when we left the hospital.
They should check bubs over, and for us should feel our tummy, check our stitches (if have any), talk to us about DTD, contraception, PND, and any other issues. Also should be asked about bleeding and discharge.
Well thats what im asking for when we go for our 6wk check up this week.
If he doesnt check me internally, i have a 6wk check up with the Dr who delivered Lachlan this week, who im sure will do it.
But im pretty sure they are supposed to do what i mentioned atleast! As that is what i was told when i left the hospital.

I would ask them what you got charged for! lol

I love your photo - did you take it yourself or get it done professionally. I wish we had done something like that. Hey any hints of how to put a pic in my signature??

Thank you PrincessMya. The photo was taken by a friend of Lea13. She's not a professional by occupation, but has all the professional stuff. She's very good. There are more shots on Caeleb's site if you're interested. And Amy is correct.
