I still have most of the weight I put on (after almost 7 weeks after giving birth) and am pretty disappointed about it, but also feel like I'm probably being unreasonable to feel that way 8-[ I'm breastfeeding and trying to get exercise every day, but not doing anything else special. So I was just wondering how long it usually takes to lose the extra pregnancy weight you put on...
Well i think its different for everyone, BF or not. For me i didnt BF and i've lost just under half the weight i put on(which was a lot as i was quite small pre preg) and Lily will be 1 on Sunday 8-[ So for me, well over a year lol.
I do think its different for everybody and I have read that you should give yourself a year post baby. I was back to my pre pregnancy weight after 6 months with my first baby...second baby..never got there..lol..third baby..never got there..fourth baby..3 months. :-s
I was really lucky as I was back into my old clothes within 4 weeks.I was never skinny or fat just medium and never really packed on the weight while pregnant.I didn't do anything special to lose the weight it just came off.I realise I was one of the lucky ones and next time whats the bet it'll take ages to get the weight off!!
It took about 3 months, I think, for me to be able to squeeze back into my normal jeans and another few weeks for them to feel comfy. I have thyroid issues though so weight loss is a bonus side effect LOL!
I lost all of it except for 2kg within about 3 weeks of birth. I was retaining a LOT of fluid though, I think that's why it came off so quickly like that.
I had put on a whopping 39-40kg with my pg. 8-[
Within 2 weeks of birth I had dropped 12 kg.
Within the next year I had dropped another 9kg, without doing that much towards trying to lose it.
After the one year mark I really started putting more effort in, and I managed to lose another 6 kg. But now am stuck at more than 10kg more than my pre-pg weight (though I was underweight before pg)
I say just to give it more time Fenella. I have heard a lot of women recently say that their bodies seem to hold onto a bit of the excess weight when BFing, just to have those extra fat-stores JIC.
But definately dont be too hard on yourself - as you said, its only been seven weeks! If you keep up the good eating and excercise habits the weight is sure to start dropping off soon.
I'm still waiting to lose the weight from when i had Kimberley. LOL
But i must admit it hid my pregnancy with Alex well as i only put on 11 kilos and then lost 7 when i had him.
I remember hearing those words of wisdom Shannon.....
Well it is 9 weeks post birth for me now & I still have 5 1/2 kg to go. I had been told when pg to remember '9 months up - 9 months down' - I think thats really good advice!
When I fell preg with m,addy I was approx 53ishkgs, within 4 wks I was 48kgs, bottle feeding & a walking skeleton (looked awfully ill), over the years I gained weight & was sitting at about 60kgs (abit more than I wanted really, but oh well) Then I fell preg with Indah & would say I am now a floppy, chubby 65-67kgs! Not happy jan, but I am breastfeeding & happy so I guess it just depends & I am not conciously trying to lose weight, I am figuring once I am back at work in 2 wks time I will have proper lunch breaks etc, without snacking at home all day like I do now!!!
I am going to express during the day at work (I have my own office with fridge etc) so hopefully I wioll be a sex kitten again soon... hee hee!
