How long for stiches to dissolve?

    Hi,
I had my 6 week check up, and as I am having a few issews down below, my GP took a geezer at my privates.....

my perenium has healed completely, which is good.
But I also had a small 1st degree tear near my urethra, that was obviously stitched up, and it still hasnt quite dissolved yet, so causing me slight discomfort. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a ball park figure as to when I will feel close to normal again, ie, not feel like something is going to fall out! lol

The GP said everything looks fine... and no hemmaroids!!! (sp?) woohoo!
    lol

    cheers and thanks in advance

    Hi Squishee
They should be gone by 3-4 weeks. Try washing the area with salt water a few times a day

For the last 6 weeks, I have been having at least one salt bath per day...
Will try and attmept washing more often.

If it has not disolved in a week or so it may be a good idea to get it checked

I found that my stitches had alll disolved by about week 6 or 7 or so. Some of them disolved quicker, but there were a couple of persistent ones which took longer. I still had a few at my 6 week checkup. The salt bath like Alan suggested is a great idea!

My stitches had dissolved by my 6 week c/u but was still really sore. Probably didn't start to feel normal until about 9 weeks or so. I found the salt baths really helpful too. I took warm water in a bottle whenever i went to the toilet to pour over area it helped ease the discomfort & helped keep the area clean.
