    Implanton....your opinions

    Hi

I am thinking about contraception after the birth. One thing I thought of was implanton (the contraceptive rod you insert in your arm that gives 3 years protection).

Has anyone used it? What were your feelings towards it? Did you bleed a lot or not at all? I am wondering if its worth trying. My periods are usually regular....every 28 days..

    Hi Cathy,
I know we have had a couple of discussions on this before, but I cant seem to find them anywhere atm!

I have never used the Implanon personally, but I know a few people who have, and most of them would not recommend it...
for example, My sister had it put in, and her hormones/emotions went absolutely haywire... she was a wreck, and had to have it taken out again after only a couple of months.
For this reason I am not game to try it myself...

Thanks...I wasn't sure where to post about this...but seemed like a post baby issue.

I have heard two ppl say they bled a lot, and one who said she didn't bleed at all. And also one said she went haywire on it too. I just wondered if there were more bad experiences than good. If thats the case, then I think I'll just stick to condoms for the first year.

I bled a lot - maybe 4 out of every 6 weeks. I think it works as a contraceptive because you might not want to DTD while you are bleeding :-k

I had it in for 2 1/2 years.

Bleeding so much does not sound fun at all! And yeah..it would put you off DTD I think. Not to mention all the expense of buyiing tampons/pads all the time!
