    Implon (spel) question

    Hey there
i have the implon for about 3 months and letely i have been getting mild cramps (like peroid ones) I have had no bleeding, so its not my peroid coming back, just wondering if anyone else has had cramps while having it in? Tim said i could be pregnant as a joke, but i have no other syomptons.

I felt a bit pre menstural from time to time. I never had AF while I was on it.

I've had mine for say around 6 months or so. I had some regular periods at first then just some spotting. Oh and I've had cramping here and there. It all sounds normal. Its great to having it in but a pain to now "know" whats going on like you do when you're on the pill! HTH

Sorry this is kinda changing the subject a tiny bit. I was reading through ur posts as i'm planning to get one sometime after bubby is born & was wondering if its actually worth it. There seems to be alot sideeffects that go along with it?

It depends. I don't think I really have any side effects. No headaches, no major mood swings that I've noticed and the best thing is that I don't have to remember to take the pill!! Its been great for me! For me the only frustrating thing is not having complete control of cycles. Sometimes I get a bit of spotting etc but you never know when its going to start. Oh and I have also noticed that normally before my period I get a few pimples but on the implanon I seem to get them more often. So there are the pros and cons for me!

I think it was just a little bit of spoting.

It depends on how you react to it I think. I am getting mine taken out soon because my emotions have gone haywire since i've had it in.

I understand implanon is a progesterone based implant? All progesterone only contraceptives have bleeding as a possible side effect.

The Family Planning Australia website says this:
    WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE LIKELY?

The most common side effect is irregular bleeding which can vary from no bleeding at all to troublesome frequent bleeding. Other side effects are rare but users sensitive to the hormone in the rod may experience side effects like headaches, weight gain and breast symptoms.

Thanks for info guys. I think i might have to think about it some more & have a chat to my gp. But i guess i'll never know if i get any side effects unless i give it go
Anyway still a bit longer to ponder over it some more.
    Thanks again!
