Red face Leaking down there 7 weeks after baby

After DS birth I noticed in the hospital I was dribbling a bit after going pee. I told a M?W and she said its 'stress incontinence and should sort itself out by about 6 weeks'.
About 2 weeks after birth I had been for a pee and was washing my hands and quite a bit just flowed out I was a bit shocked and scared by the puddle, but it hasnt happend since and I actually thought that I was all better from it...but I bleed up into my 5th week and its the last few weeks that I have realised Im still loosing a bit of pee. Mostly its after I have gone for a pee in the loo and I wait and seems to all be gone, but within a few mins of being out of the toilet I get a small leak. Enough that I can smell a bit of pee and some days need to wear a pantyliner.

I use to be able to feel my pelvic floor really well and easy and hold it well and now cant even hardly feel it - so I guess I need to really strength it again.

Any advise and how long does it take to get better?

Im slightly horrified about this, but hope its a fairly common problem post birth.

eta. they used a catheter during my delivery and did not take it out for about 12hr later. I have felt a little uncomfy down there since ( and have had catheters before and not felt this) so possibly could this be part of the problem??

it depends whether its just a matter of it getting better with exercises, time etc, whether there is nerve damage etc.
Common, yep 1:3 women suffer some sort of incontinence after having a baby, and this is both vb and c/s births.
Mine was not back to normal after 3 years Im sad to say. Was hugely better than after the birth, but not what it used to be.

I wear a pad most of the time hun. I use cloth pads to reduce the chances of thrush, because the plastic throw-away ones don't breathe. I have always had quite a bit of discharge, and a bit of stress incontinence, and I always do pelvic foor exercises. If you use cloth nappies try putting a prefold or booster in your undies, saves on the amount of clothes changes and money when you are constantly needing pads.
