Ijust had second baby boy just over a month ago and still have a bit of the baby bump left. I am concerned however as I have all this loose skin on my stomach and fear what it will be like when the stomach goes back to its regular size ( uterus is still large ).
When I lay down the skin looks like elephant skin and you can pinch it up in pieces, its revolting.
I dont expect to look like Elle Macpherson after 2 kids however want to know if there is anything I can do to tighten the skin.
Ohh yeah, you want to see my belly after 5 kids !! Yes I have elephant skin. And I am a size 12. The more weight I loose the more loose skin I have. Nothing short of a tummy tuck will fix my stomach. There is no elasticity in my skin on my stomach left
Deancey, my first pg absolutely wrecked my tummy *blushes*, I put on nearly 40kg. Going from 45kg to near 80kg's..
I never got any fresh stretchies from the next 2 babies but started going to the gym, got superfit and back to around 50kg and I still had the skin hanging down over my cha cha. I was doing 100 sit ups a day and that didn't help either.
I had a tummy tuck 5 years ago and now I am praying that this pg doesnt' ruin my tummy again - almost 30 weeks and no sign of stretching yet .
deancy - can i ask did you put on alot of weight with your 2nd (more than the first)
reason i ask is i am preggas with my 2nd only 8 months between pregnancies and im scared imll get the elephant tummy aswell... in my 1st preg with DS i put on about 30 kgs - kept 9 extra after birth this one is better pregnant with DD and so far ive put on only about 6kgs and im half weigh through..
Dont seem to have any extra strectchies yet but mine mostly came after i gave birth aswell.
I don't have any answers either, but I also have elephant skin and stretch marks all over my stomach after having my baby. I don't love it, but console myself with the fact that at least I can cover it up. Tis sad to lose my old body! Sometimes I miss it!
Bea, yep, a tummy tuck does work for elephant skin. My skin was cut away from my c/s scar to just above my belly button and pulled down. They then cut a hole and sewed my own belly button back into place. My tummy was just like I'd never been pg and was so flat with no stretch marks or crinkled skin anymore, unreal and well worth the money but oh so painful.
Here, Here, Trish I?m with you 5 kiddies later and I`ve got the over hang as well, muffin top, bum bag, what ever,at least it was for a good cause, and ladies after watching some documentaries on pay tv,home & living channel, most surgeons will tell you no matter how much exercise we do or how many sit up or crunches we perform us ladies will never have the same tummy again,so it looks like we will all be linning up for a tummy tuck, lol. Does anyone know how much this would cost if your not in a health fund ?. oooh,I would love to have all that saggy skin removed, would make me alot happier.
I guess this is one of the downfalls of my choice to have babies young.
The most annoying part is that my absolutely tiny mother that just had twins only put on 7kg in her pregnancy, no stretch marks, lost all the weight by six weeks and has her flat gorgeous tummy back - and that's after having three kids before them.
Genetics suck.
Ashleajayne - OMG, that's amazing that your mum hasnt got stretchies after the twins. Genetics definately suck, I agree.
mumofmany - I wasn't in a health fund but got a medicare refund on the anethetist and it cost me around $5000, but would have been more had I stayed in hospital longer. That was about 5 years ago.
My stomach is terrible, my skin has never been that elastic, plus I tend to be overweight DH has agreed though that if I lose the weight and keep it off for a year I can have a tummy tuck and maybe a boob lift. Weight gain and loss, plus babies was not a good combo for my body.
i only put 10 kilo on this preg, over 20 with the 1st one however this time is when my skin was ruined, go figure.
I was thinking of tummy tuck but think i will just have to wear the wounds proudly....like most mums.
thanks everyone for sharing
