Yes a bit embarrassing but I have to ask.... I had a c/s 5 weeks ago - we have DtD twice - the first time about a week ago and it was really painful. I feel like Im grazed all the way in...(sorry!)..and considering I had a c/s all I can think is that the 10+ VE's I had (yep 10 or more) or the catheter have something to do with it???? Ive been a bit tense but its more a physical pain not from tension IYKWIM?
Will check at my 6 week check-up but wanted to find out if this is normal or not or if others have had the same thing.
TIA
Hello, I have not experienced a CS, but after birth your oestrogen levels are very very low (even more so if you are breastfeeding), and this can cause the vaginal tissues to become dry, thin, and brittle (ie yes they can actually graze). The remedy for this - other than using a good lubricant - is to see your Dr for some vaginal oestrogen - either a cream or pill, which delivers oestrogen right where it's needed.
Oh no Tan! I haven't been through this yet as I am expecting my first in approx 6 weeks BUT this is something I think about ... how will ''it'' go afterwards?!? I think maybe when you have your 6 week check-up just ask the Dr like you said... seeings as it is not far away!!
I found it painful as well, but I did nearly give birth before the c-section and I always blamed it on that. So maybe it was both that and the section.
Definately use lots of lube and found different positions also helped. What felt good before did not feel the same afterwards.
I found it extremely painful the first time after my c/s .. it was definitely dryness causing the problem. The second time (with lotsa lube) was much better
Your GP/OB can prescribe a cream called Ovestrin, which is oestrogen released by inserting a cream into your vagina - it should help the dryness, and hopefully make DTD less painful.
cherie: there was another thread around here somewhere that I started where people mentioned that cream too. But then someone told me it isnt good when you are breastfeedinfg?
danni is use it and it can decrease milk supply but i havent had a problem, i'm also taking zoloft which can decrease supply as well!!! so no problems here with milk, though still problems DTD!!
