passing blood clots after c/s maybe tmi

3 wks ago I had the c section, have had bleeding (lochia) the whole time since, not soaking thru pads or anything but generally heavy and dark red, worse after bf, anyway in the first week I had a few large clots (like egg sized) hospital said was normal.
second week I had a largish clot (like af clots) I asked the visiting mw about it, she said was normal.
so just not long ago, I went to the loo and got excited thinking the bleeding was going away as pad had bugger all on it, then I wiped and toilet paper was covered with it, oh well, get up and go to wash my hands when I had the oddest feeling in my vagina, I sat back down on the loo and a huge clot fell out, very fibrousy, thick and red was probably a little larger than a golf ball. also accompanied by lots of dark red mucousy thick blood.
sorry this is so gross but I am a little concerned about it happening this far on, I have also been feeling a little dizzy on and off but I have put this down to being a little anemic following blood loss and transfusion after surgery (I am taking iron supps but not religiously )
has anyone had clots like that this long afterwards?

Um.. no.. not that long afterwards. Usually only about a week at the most.

I'd get it checked out babe.

I agree with Mel, I'd get it checked out.

I agree, get it checked out. I bled for only about a week to 10 days, but it gradually became very, very light (1st child). It was a little different with (2nd child) I still had light bleeding at the 6 week checkup and the doctor sent me for an ultrasound, just to see if I had any conception retained products, if so I was going to have a D&C...all turned out ok and the bleeding eventually came to a stop.

It can happen but you do need to be checked. It can be a sign of infection or of retained products (less likely post c-section). They don't like to do a D&C due to the risk of perforating the uterus but you may need to be on some antibiotics. It can be part of the decidua (endometrial lining) being passed.

Monitor for fever, odours, funny coloured discharge etc but see your doctor / OB and get checked to be sure. If it is just the clots occasionally without soaking pads as well a course of antibiotics or just monitoring may be enough. If it is soaking into pads (and more than your normal period volume) it is an emergency and you need to get to a hospital ASAP for assessment.
