Provera Tablets

My OB has put me on Provera as i am still having a small amount of bleeding 6.5 weeks after giving birth. I googled Provera and it seems to be used to bring on periods however my OB gave it to me to stop bleeding??

Can anyone clarify for me or have you been on Provera and what side effets did you have? So far I have had cramping, like period pain. And breast tenderness, I'm having to feed 2hrly because it's so painful if they get too full.

I'm very confused, can I expect my period once I stop taking the tablets (12 day course)?? I am also getting an US in 2 weeks to check for any retained products.

my gp gave me provera years ago when I had a period that went on for several weeks. Tbh I can't remember what the side effects ect were sorry-just thought I would post so you know that your not the only one who has been put on it to stop bleeding

Thanks mumabear, will be calling my OB tomorrow as I'm still taking tablets and the bleeding is increasing. Hopefully he will give me some more info. Thanks again
