I had a vaginal birth with DS.
Should my abdominal muscles be back together by now? (1 year post birth) they're still about 5-10 mm apart when tensed.
**TMI**
Also I have had hemerroids on and off (mostly on) since DS was born. They dont really bother me so is it ok to just leave it or do I need to do something about it? **WAY TMI**
I try not to strain but usually I'm in a hurry to get back to DS so have to to be quick.
If you are still having abdominal issues one year post birth I would suggest you see a physio who specialises in pregnancy and post birth issues. Normally there would not be such a large gap still so it is possible you need to do specific exercises to strengthen the whole area.
With your hemmaroids, there is lots you can do. Consider using a hemmaroid cream (really helps with the itching), and make sure you don't strain. Take your son in with you if you need to, or try not to go unless he is having a nap if you can. Also drink lots of water and eat plenty of fibre, and that way even if you don't have much time you still should not be straining.
A one to two finger width gap is common even before pregnancy. if you are still having problems though you might want to see a women's health physio.
If you had an abdominal separation in your first pregnancy, it will often come back next time so if you are thinking about having another bub you want to be doing the specific exercises to give yourself asmuch core strength
Thanks for the replies. No itching, bleeding etc with the hemerroids. I just wondered if it's ok to leave the hemerroids or if the NEED to be treated.
Lol Traveller I dunno if I should subject Isaac to that kind of trauma, could be a bit whiffy.
I'm not sure about my pre baby abs, I never thought to check. No problems just wanted to make sure it was ok.
