So the last couple of times I've pooed I've got blood on the paper from the stitches. I'm not bunged-up or anything, and I'm making sure I wipe gently.
So they said at the hospital, "you will feel like you'll split the stitches when you poo, but you won't". I know I haven't split the stitches, but do you think it's ok that they are bleeding a little bit though? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.
Apparently in about 7 months I will be a qualified midwife - yikes!

Snacks, as it has been a couple of weeks sonce you gave birth, I would be surprised if it was from the stitches. Is it possible you may have a roid or a fissure? I know with all of the swelling and pain down there it can sometimes be difficult to figure exactly what is more painful! LOL The stitches are pretty much supposed to be dissolved in 10 days or so.
I had a couple of Roids with No 2 and they bleed on and off for a month or so after birth, but got better with creams etc.
I would suggest maybe getting your GP to check it out for you??
I thought it sounded like haemorrhoids were more of a possibility too.
Also, I good tip that someone gave me was that when you go to the loo, if you feel as if the stitches are going to split open, hold a folded up pad of toilet paper firmly but gently against your perenium and it'll help ease that sensation.
Oh, no. Not bottom issues! Now I've had everything, LOL.
Thanks for the advice. I guess it just seemed like the blood was coming from my perineum, not my bottom... But you are right, it'd be mighty strange for that to be bleeding so long after the birth.
So, I guess I'm off to have someone poke around my nethers again...
