    Stretch Marks

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of anything to lighten the appearance of stretch marks. I've tried a number of different creams from the chemist but they still look unslightly. Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of them or at least making them look better.

    Hi Fruitwood,
I was actually very fortunate and escaped any stretchmarks...but i copped a big c/s scar instead!!! I've been using Bio-oil (from Chemists and Priceline) and it says that its a specialist in skincare for stretchmarks, scars...

I've found it has really helped my scar lighten. Good luck

I have to most hoorible stretch marks ever... seriously, they look like the stripes on a zebra all the way from over my belly button to down my thighs... i have terrible skin (ecezma and lots of sensitive skin probs, so i put this down to that as i put on cream when i was preg.. i think if you are bound to get them there isn't much you can do, my skin just wouldn't stretch well)

Anyway, i mentioned to my dermatologist about this when i was seeing her for something else, she prescribed some cream which is supposed to help them fade better (has Vit A in it...)but she said i wouldn't see results for a while, so i got lazy and stop applying it

Anyway, baby is asleep in my room, but tomorrow I will find the cream and tell you the name of it.

Boy, i hope they fade soon... they looked so shocking that when i was in labour i was so embarresed to lift up my top for monitoring... my mum is a midwife and said they are the worst she has ever seen (thanks mum!)

I just hope that i had them all now, and with more pregs they won't get worse!

They are slightly faded, but still look shocking!!

Seriously, ask Kelly - she saw them!!

And now I can never look at my stomach in the mirror cos i think its so hideous... at least if they were white not redish/pink they wouldn't be so noticable!

My GF had her son nearly 5 months ago and I swear her stomach looks like a road map. Yes she does have very fair skin but her stretchies are BAD. Apparently when she recently saw her GP for something else he mentioned how bad they were and said it was because she was lacking in something Trust me not to rmember what it was. But it was a health related issue for her.

I got stretchies with Joel but they stayed under my navel, with Brandon he was transvere nearly the whole way so a different stretched stomach and got them above my navel Noah I didn't get any, I got the cesar scar instead and Tehya I got none with either. Maybe because my poor stomach was so stretched already. I swear I have elephant skin on my stomach. I tell Mark it's like an old pair of undies that have been stretched too far, after a while they just don't go back

Tanya can you honestly get them lasered off?? They'd need a huge laser for me. I'd love to have a tummy tuck and hopefully when that was done half of my stretchies would be gone too

some of mine are like 5 cm wide in places....

PSML about the old pair of undies - i don't think mine will ever go back

I would love to have laser surgery & a tummy tuck - but i don't think i would ever spend that kinda money on something like that... oh, if only everything was free in life!

Hi, thanks for the advice. I have very very pale white skin. I never tan so in summer I get alot of comments on either how white my legs are or how sunburnt I look, lol. I picked up some bio oil from my local chemist today. Hopefully it does the trick.

    Thanks again.

I have terrible stretch marks on my stomach, thighs and legs.
I am putting a creme for dimpled skin on them and they appear to be lightenening.
I had a c section and I find the area of my scar and stretchies really ithcy at times. is this normal?

Don't Scratch!!!! This makes them worse. I remember with my first when I was about 8 months pg and thinking how lovely and smooth my belly was - until I looked in the MIRROR!!!!! They were all underneath and I couldnt see them. I had 6 big welts on the bottom of my tummy. I was horrified. Suffice to say, to only have 6 now would be wonderful

Thanks for the bio oil tip ladies !!!! I am really happy with the results so far. It's only been about 2 weeks that I've been using it and I can definately notice a difference already. I've still got all the stretchmarks lol but alot of the real redness of them has started to fade. I still don't like to look in the mirror but maybe in a couple of months I'll feel so much better than I do now. Thanks so much for the tip.

My Mum never got one & still has a decent figure 3 kids later NO stretchies, My older sister never got any att & I didnt get any at all on my tummy, but underneath my breasts I have a few white/silver fine ones...
Going from a C cup to a GG cup I guess its' no surprise hey!!!

But with Indah I got a few on tops on my thighs & on my hip top of the butt, love handle area I have a few...

But my friend has the worst, her entire tummy is black & blue with this, deep dark pitted stretchies & taht was after #1, she has had 1 more since & I had none with maddy & she asked to see whta my tummy looked like so I showed her & she burst into tears, then showed me hers & I was in shock that pregnancy could cause that, coz I had only really seen my Mum & sis after babies...

I cant imagine what hers looks like now...

I have to say we never put anyting on our skin either whilst preg, just Mum told me dont scratch as it can cause broken skin which turns into stretchies so I did not scratch whilst preg..
But really I think a baby is worth some stretchies!!!!
