Question When did you drive after a c/s....???

Just curious - Im coming up to 4 weeks and drove today for the first time alone.... felt fine and have been feeling fine for a while. Have heard mixed comments re: insurance etc. but rang the RACV and they said as long as my dr hasnt said i cant.....no-one at hostpital actually said i couldnt-they just said dont lift anything heavy and vacuuming etc! For some reason lots of people say the 6 weeks relates to driving too?????
Babbling now= so when did you???????

I drove at around 5 weeks and I had a perfect recovery. I think it is more if you have an accident or stop quickly etc you may injure yourself due to where the seatbelt sits.

I drove after 2 weeks after DS#1 - emerg c/s and after about 1 week with DS#2 - electiv c/s. No one advised me anything and i had rang up my insurance and they had said the same ie 'if your dr has not said not to drive then ok'. I'm glad we have an auto though as i don't think i would probably be wanting to move my legs everytime to change gear.

My Ob told me I could drive once I could safely slam my foot on the break which is usually 4 weeks. I felt read at 3 weeks but waited until 4.

Ive had 3 csections and drove after 2 weeks with each of them. Its funny cos I have never been told anything about waiting for 6 weeks..have only ever heard it on here. We had a hand out with things to avoid, like vaccuming and lifting but no mention ever of driving.

I drove after 4 weeks. I think the 6 weeks thing is an insurance thing too. Apparently your insurance doesnt cover you if you are driving earlier than 6 weeks after a major op. Dont know if this is true but its what I have heard.

I was told by a number of people (ie: my step mum who had 3 c/s) that I had to wait 6 weeks.

So I went nuts, walking everywhere - which I'm sure did more damage then driving could have! I was so frustrated.

At 5 weeks I phoned RACV (to ask about extra insurance for car seat & pram) - and mentioned the c/s & driving. And she said the same - unless you're doc says you can't drive - there's no reason not to. OMG I wish I knew that 2-3 weeks previously!

I phoned my Ob, and he said it was fine to drive.

I think that years ago that ceasars were done a bit differently too. (not sure though)...
I didn't have any stitches (glued??) - whereas my stepmum had stitches every time. I had a fantastic (quick) recovery after my c/s.
