I've just got my period 4 weeks after losing my baby.
I'm now on day 3 of the bleeding and the period pain is quite intense. The blood itself is very dark almost black.
What were/are your experiences of the first bleed after a miscarriage?

That it sucks.I was going to the races and couldn't wear the white dress I'd planned on. That's what stands out most in my mind.
I remember having to change pads in the middle of the night more than once, and still leaking everywhere. There was just so. much. blood. It was quite painful too, just that really heavy feeling, like there's a lead weight attached to your uterus. And of course that awful emotional reminder that you're not pregnant any more.
I treated it with some of the most beautiful white wine I've ever had, time on the couch, and a new pair of pyjamas.
Sara, when I got my first period after the m/c, mine was heavy and black like yours. And the cramps seemed to be worse then what I had while miscarrying
Hope it doesn't last long sweety

Mine was like a normal period. It was a bit 'fleshy' but otherwise like a normal period. My actual miscarriage was like a heavy period (plus a few globby bits) It was reminiscent of my teenage years & the cramps I always had on the first day. So maybe because the miscarriage itself wasn't dramatic that's why my first AF afterwards wasn't very dramatic either
I hope what you've got is all normal and is over quickly for you.
mine was pretty yucky too. Hope it's over quickly for you![]()
Thank you all for sharing.
From what I have heard...what I am experiencing is quite normal.
I might also just add....
My period started the day after I had a "Closing the Bones" ritual done with the Rebozo by my very close fellow Doula friends.
We did the ritual. We cried together. And I felt somewhat....lighter.
I like to think that this whole process is a sign of my whole being beginning the process of moving forward.
Thanks again for sharing your stories with me. I appreciate you.
