It's finally back!!! - but what's going on?

Hey - sorry this is long!

My AF finally made its return on Sunday (May 20), after not having come since the last one started on June 9 2006. So nearly 2 years since the last one.

I breast-fed my DD until she was 8 months old (last feed was 27 Nov 2007), so it had been nearly 6 months since then.

I was starting to wonder what was going on, and had blood tests with the GP, and saw him on Friday (18 may), and paid $58 for him to tell me that they were all good. He gave me a referral to get a pelvic ultrasound if it went for another month without turning up, to see if I might have PCOS.

So anyway, then along it came on Sunday morning. It could have come 3 days earlier, and saved me $58!!!!

But the thing is that there is NO PAIN AT ALL!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!

I used to get really bad pain with AF, in front, and back, and down my legs. And it was so bad that I have sometimes even vomited from the pain.

My sister was telling me that her AF post baby was a lot heavier and a lot more painful, and that all of her friends were also worse post baby, so I was expecting it to be really bad.

But there is not even a slight cramp!

So I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or is my body just really weird?

    Thanks for any replies!

Hi Ali,after my first 3 babies nothing much had changed in the period department, still got the cramps, headaches, bloating etc.....but after having our 4th and 5th babies my periods have been so much lighter, pain free, but still get a headche a few days leading up to them,I don`t know why this happens, but it has also been the case for a couple of my friends, our bodies are a very complex thing, but I?m not complaining, neither is my hubby, and so no Ali your not weird at all, cheers hun.

is it possible to still use the refferal just to rule out PCOS? so your money wasnt wasted or anything & you might get some answers?

Ali, before my DD I had painful periods, I breastfeed for only a few months and when AF returned it was the complete opposite. No pain, I could walk actually walk! No need for painkillers or even panadol, no heaviness, no clots, like I said, the absolute complete opposite to before DD's birth.

I had a lap last year before starting on IVF, and I was only just starting to get painful periods again, but nothing compared to what they were like before.

I have to agree with the other gals. Our bodies are so complicated.

I too had very painful AF before bub #1, and then after, it was like total bliss! After #2, I got very strong O Pain, but still no AF pain. But after #3, I am back to strong AF pain coupled with strong O pain! lol! see what I mean - complicated!
