Since my lap for endo I can get away with nurofen, panadine and nurofen plus - not all at once of course! Before my lap nothing seemed to work, I was on indocid years ago can't even remember what type of med that is!

And yes I am lop poking forward to menopause as well!

Naprogesic. There have been days where I would marry Naprogesic. Pain killers dull the pain, but for me, Naprogesic actually seems to stop the cramping altogether. And oh, the relief. Yes, I'd marry it. Have it's babies. Little, blue, pain-free babies. That is how much I love Naprogesic on days when my uterus hates me. Hope you find a drug/treatment that works as well for you. xox

Yep naprogesic works differently to other things like pain killers - it actually works to stop the uterine cramping that causes the pain, whereas some of the others stop the pain, but not the cause of the pain itself.

if you like tea traveller, then teas to have for bad rebellious uterus are ginger root tea or chamomile tea:
    For menstrual cramps
Ginger root- you slice and steep for 1-5 minutes, and then add some honey for sweetness if you like
chamomile- either dry leaves or tea bags are fine

Raspberry leaf tea is for toning and good blood flow to the uterus- more for toning the uterus up and keeping it healthy, than for soothing menstrual cramps.

This thread is nuts. Why the heck are so many of us screaming in pain every month It's so wrong! There's something not quite right about that...

Anyway, Trav, have you thought that there might be more going on - i hate to suggest endo, or a cyst or something?

As I said it's been a few years since I had periods, but last time the gynacologist did a scan and said there were no fybroids or anything, and I seem to remember my periods as a teenager being almost as bad before I went on the pill so I think it could just be me. I know I have heavier than normal periods (thanks to my mooncup for proving that to me in ml's ) and that is worse than when I was a teenager but I think that's normal after kids, especially after twins and a massive placenta site.

I'm fairly certain I have some sort of uterine prolapse going on though, could that make things worse?

yes thanks, I asked about it when I got my mirena after the twins but I was told I was too young then. I'd love to know what age it would be appropriate.

I have two days of hideous pain each month (the other days are tolerable when I swallow iboprufen). I've also had asprin before which also works.

If I'm at home DH will fix me up a hot water bottle a couple of iboprufen and, in the evening, a brandy. I swear by the brandy. It's my great-grandmother's advice. The only trouble is that it gives you a killer headache in the morning! You can feel the brandy warm your belly. Combine it with a hot water bottle and a girly movie and I can make it through.
