I am really hating being stuck here in limbo... James and Madeleine want to discuss things to do with the baby, but I don't even know if there is still a baby there yet.

Right from the first BFP, something didn't feel right... I am hoping that it was just that I am not as pregnant as I thought I should be.

Argh!!! I am so anxiously waiting to see my GP tomorrow... my ultrasound letter is driving me bonkers, as I have no idea what some of the technical stuff in there means... I can't wait to have it all interpreted for me tomorrow.

I wrote this in the professional support panel section... I will just paste it into here.

I am driving myself bonkers thinking about the results of my ultrasound.
There are things on there, which I will write in bold, that are confusing me and I am getting worried... I don't know how I am meant to survive the next few days!!!
This is what is written

Pelvic Ultrasound
Clinical Notes: 7 weeks gestation.
Findings: A transvaginal scan was performed.

The uterus is anteverted and bulky. There is a thickened echogenic endometrium and cystic spaces which contain fluid with internal echos. A normal gestational sac could not be discerned at this stage. No yolk sac or foetal pole could be identified. No free fluid is present in the cul-de-sac. The cervix and vagina are unremarkable.

The right ovary is 3.9cc and the left ovary is 8cc. No adnexal masses or collections were seen. The appearances are suspicious of molar pregnancy or a miscarriage. A follow up scan in a weeks time is recommended and a correlation with serial Beta HCG levels.

I understand that it is all confusing, but if anyone has any idea as to what all this means, I would love to hear what you think.
Grrr!!! Waiting until Tuesday is going to be so hard

I am confused by the big difference in my ovary sizes... What size should they be? Is is normal to have such a difference in size? Everything that is in bold is confusing me

The uterus is anteverted and bulky. I find this rude: anteverted (backwards), that's quite normal, but bulky? No-one wants to be bulky. I don't think there's anything medical in that.

The endometrium is what you lose when you have a period - it thickens in pregnancy and echogenic just means it's easy to read with the scanner.

Cystic spaces with fluid and internal echoes... internal echoes means the ultrasound waves were bouncing about and the picture wasn't as clear.

That's about the best I can do for you, Lisa - drat that I'm not at work in some ways. I hope this is just a very, very early scan for you.

Sorry LIsa, I only just logged on this morning. Basically this doesn't tell us much. I concur with much of what Ryn has said. A bulky uterus means it's not empty. You would expect a thickened endometrium in pregnancy but they didnt' say how thick?

I believe the report says suspicious of molar pregnancy or m/carriage based on not seeing a gestational sac - so try not to focus on that.

So, basically you are none the wiser - and that is universally the difficulty this early - unfortunately we just have to wait and continue to see doubling of the hcg (personally I would suspect a higher hcg if the pregnancy was molar). Are you continuing to bleed my love?

Sorry Lisa that I wasn't much more help - the findings are as you suspected inconclusive.

Thank you both so much for your help... you have given me more information than the Dr's have !!!
I have an appt in a hour with my lovely GP... so I have my fingers tightly crossed that either this afternoon or tomorrow morning, I will find out that the HCG levels have risen... I am taking the rise of 51 in 3 days to be a positive thing... and to answer your question Deb, yes, the bleeding has stopped... and I am starting to feel a little off at times, but that could be to do with the stress of not knowing... I am hoping it is because there is a healthy, stubborn little bubba in there

I will let everyone know whats going on when I have some answers.

I had my HCG levels checked today... the Dr didn't end up seeing me until 3:30pm, then, it was close to 4pm before I had my bloods taken... I got the results back at 5:20pm... I was impressed that they came back so quickly!
Anyway... the HCG levels have risen again... they are now at 378... which I think is brilliant.
I am going to have my ultrasound done tomorrow afternoon.
