Recurrent Miscarriage Dilemma!

Hope everyone is doing well...

Just a quick one today,

I had my 28 week scan today, bub is doing great. She is very active and averaging an ultrasound age 29w 2d, heartbeat 142bpm, she weighs 3 pound 4, her foot measured 6.29cm, and she is in the 95th percentile considered a large for dates baby. Everything is looking great. I have finally got it in my head that we're having a GIRL :D as it was confirmed again! We have our antenatal appointment on Tuesday, it will be interesting to see what our midwife has to say about the scan.

AFM - well just back from errands and swimming lessons ( drowning prevention at this age). Hannah loves the water so much it is such a joy to take her, though she was "talking" so much today that she gulped down some water. Eek.

It's amazing isn't it Dory how well they adapt to the water, unless they are busy "talking" and not paying attention :P lol... how cute... It just shows how happy she is to be in the water. Maybe she will pay attention from now on and save her chatter for after swimming :D I took my eldest DD to swimming lessons when she was about 8 months old, I never did it with my younger two until they were much older, not sure why... it's an important skill to teach them.

Gem - I agree about it being important... while we don't have a pool we know a few people who do, so wanted to get started asap. At the pool there is a sign that says swimming lessons, the gift of life.

How is that baby bump going today?

Baby bump is getting heavy, she has taken up residence on my cervix making it very difficult to get around... I guess I can consider myself lucky that I don't have the back pain like I had with DS. Just getting tired more quickly these days, been into town with DD this morning for some appointments, with eldest DD in tow as she is suspended at the moment grrr... Was meant to have yoga afterward but I was starving hungry so that was first priority, making time too short, I was getting a few pains in the lower belly anyway so I thought I would come home and rest instead of yoga... so much for resting, here I am on the puter lol.

I was thinking the other day about you and all those tests you were having. Did you get all your results back? I hope everything is ok.

Oh that's so sweet for remembering.... results next monday 14th.... thankfully we have a big weekend beforehand and that will take my mind off it. Sorry that baby girl is so low and you didn't get to do yoga. I am the same, sposed to be trying to nap right now... my excuse is Hannah is still talking/grizzling so not much point yet.... LOL. Hope DD isn't suspended for too long and pity it's not an "in school suspension".

Had antenatal today, midwife says she is glad its me pushing this baby out and not her. She has told me to expect a phone call re the glucose test. She seems to think that there is a good chance it will come back positive because of bubs size. She says if I haven't heard anything by Friday it should mean that everything is fine. We are having another scan in 5 weeks to check growth. She seems concerned that bub should be about 1.2kg rather than 1.5kg. Although in saying that, 4 weeks ago she measured my fundal height at 28cm @ 24w3d but today it was 29cm @28w3d... not sure if I should be concerned or if maybe she didn't measure correctly either today or last time... ? Bub has moved into a breach position. She is all curled up towards the top of my uterus, she looked like she was trying to suck on her toes lol ewww...

Anyways, extra day for my daughter off from school as we couldn't get in tonight for a re-entry meeting due to antenatal... I agree Dory, it should be an "in school suspension" I understand that the school has a zero tolerance to violence, but what about these kids (whose parents both work full-time) and they are out wondering the streets when they are meant to be suspended, what is it teaching them? It's times like this that I am glad I am not currently working. Need to find something else for her to do for tomorrow, so far both cars have been washed and vacuumed, the lawns have been cut, the weeds have been pulled, the blinds have been scrubbed (and there are a lot of those) hmmm... maybe some dusting and vacuuming tomorrow. Maybe I shall get her to wash the car again, it got rained on all day today. Usually the way though isn't it, wash the car and it rains.

Just stopping in quickly as I am completely exhausted not feeling too well.

Had a bad headache from thursday night onwards, and was getting regular painful BHs every 20 mins last night, then woke up this morning feeling like something wasn't right so went to maternity and spent 4 hours hooked up to the CTG machine - only because Little Miss' HR was high (175-182bpm when active) and she wouldn't stay still long enough (3 hours straight of constant movements!!! plus only one big contraction in the entire time that made me feel like she was going to pop out right then and there lol) for them to get a good resting HR rythm - and had a pee test that showed ketones were present and that I was dehydrated before they said I was good to go home at 2:30 this afternoon.
They got me to drink a whole heap of water before they let me go, and thankfully it brought Little Miss' HR down to a nice resting level and put her to sleep for an hour or so lol She hasn't been that active for a LONG time, I was getting kicks left right and center, and she wouldn't stop moving her head from side to side either.
The registrar on call did a quick scan too, I didn't get to see the screen but hubby did before he had to go to work, she's still anterior and still engaged, and has developed the habit of lying her body sideways with all her arms and legs stretched out, made the midwife think she had turned posterior again - which the midwife was really nice and helpful and made me feel a lot better about going in as I was worried that it was all for nothing.
So now I just have to take it easy and rest as much a possible, and drink as much fluids as I can to stop me from getting dehydrated again.

All good here. Got the results from all those tests - nothing wrong. No cancer, no MS or other nasties. I have moderal carpal tunnel which will only get worse. But all good. What a relif. Still have the tingling and burning but just have to live with it. Phew. What great news.

Sorry I haven't been in, I have wanted to get back in because I knew you were getting your results Dory and I was keen to know how you got on. Glad to hear everything came back good, sorry you have to go through the carpal tunnel though.

Jen sorry to hear you are having a hard time of it, try to stay positive, not long to go until you get to meet your little girl :D I can't wait to hear your wonderful news!

AFM Just got home this afternoon, been in hospital with my DD since Thursday morning.

It all started on Tuesday morning, she was meant to have an appointment in the hospital. While I was at the hospital I went to find out about my GD test from the previous Tuesday and was ridiculed by the staff about protocol etc after finding out that the test showed elevated glucose test (the doctor at my antenatal appointment told me that I would receive a phone call by Friday last week if it was abnormal, but I never got that call) The staff really upset me, she was even having a go while giving me directions, and I was holding back tears after coming out of that area of the hospital. Made the appointment to come back in for a second test.

Eventually got to the area for my DD appointment. The doctor came out shortly afterwards and asked if everything is ok. I told her what happened with the antenatal area and that my DD was not feeling well and we decided to reschedule her appointment (it was to take an hour and a half, so a lengthy one)

So I had DD to the GP by lunch time. He didn't know why but told me she had a temperature of 38. Her throat, ears, chest all seemed fine and she hadn't been sick with the flu or anything. He started her on antibiotics and panadol, but by Thursday morning her temp was up to 39.3 so I took her to hospital. by lunchtime she was admitted. X-rays had shown an infection in her chest which explains why she started to cough that morning. Her temperature has been fluctuating since Thursday, spiked at 40.4 yesterday morning. She had 3 drips put in her veins in total. The first one kinked and started rubbing on her bone, second one collapsed her vein making her arm swell up, third one was put in yesterday and was taken out before she left today, thankfully it didn't cause her any more drama. Her temperature is still fluctuating but not to the extent that it had been. She seems better now, but I do wonder how long for, as when she was in hospital she seemed fine while her temperature was down. I really hope it stays down now. It has been a very difficult few days watching her going through all the pain of needles and the discomforts of the temperature, then to top it off the cough has gotten worse and she developed mouth ulcers.

I am so exhausted, I've had hardly any sleep for 3 nights, if it wasn't DD or her machines waking me, it was other patients coming in at midnight. And even though the nurses tried hard to keep me comfortable while I was there, I am really looking forward to getting back in to my own bed tonight. My hips were so sore last night.

I had to get DH to come in this morning to take over my job of staying with DD while I went into town for my second glucose tolerance test this morning. 7:30am in town sigh. Got a phone call at about lunch time to let me know that the test came back fine, I don't have GD Phewww, one less thing to worry about.

afm - Went in for monitoring on wednesday because of the GD, bub was fine, had one contraction the entire time I was there, had a scan and bub is still measuring only 4 days ahead of dates, estimated weight was 7pd 9, estimated head circumference was 30.6cm, still anterior and engaged. OB checked her position and she's at 3/5 engaged, then did an internal and found I was already 1-2cm dilated! I was shocked, I've never dilated on my own without drugs before, so it's a first lol
OB then did an S&S, which just dislodged some of the plug and intensified the irregular contractions I've been getting for the past 2 weeks now.

Been getting irregular contractions all day... at least I think they're contractions... didn't get a single one for about 3 hours after my first 2 that I had this morning, then started getting them approx once an hour, and I've now had 3 in the last 30mins, but as I said they're not regular... starts as pain low down along my pelvic bone, combined with my whole uterus going hard, then slowly spreads upwards towards the top of my belly and outwards over my hips and into my lower back... some have lasted only 10 seconds while others have lasted a whole minute... definately feels different from the usual BHs... just wish they'd regulate and get closer together. Still feels weird not knowing if they are the real deal or not lol, I've never gone into labour naturally before so have no clue what "normal" contractions feel like.

Anywho, hubby & I had one of our rare DTD sessions today to see if we could get things moving again lol started getting the contractions closer together for about an hour, then they started moving apart again, so don't think it helped much lol

On the upside, DS had been good this afternoon/evening... apart from smashing the globe in the loungeroom lamp around 1pm and having some time out in his room (thank goodness for the little lock thing at the top of his door, or we'd never be able to keep him in there for long enough for him to realise he's been really naughty!).

Other than that, nothing else is happening.

If anything happens tonight (or anytime over the next week and a half really lol) I'll steal hubby's laptop to let you guys know before I head off to the hospital.

Oh sweetie - that's so tough with your DD being in hospital... glad she's in the mend, and you get a chance to rest. And YAY for no GD for you!!!! See if you can rest today, you deserve it, it's been a traumatic week.

We had about 6 appointments booked between us this week, I cancelled each one of them :D YAY! Will just have to go back in to the hospital ward for a review on Wednesday.

She is doing much better today, temperature now is 36.9 :D Still got a nasty cough, but she feels so much better now that the temperature has come down. I think the cough is a sign that the anitbiotics are really kicking in now!

Hoping for DD's extra speedy recovery and YAY for not having 6 appointments this week.

AFM sitting in hospital on my laptop at the moment, DD was readmitted yesterday. I went to wake her in the morning, her temperature was 38.6. I said to her, when your ready, come out to the kitchen and I will give you your medicine. After 10 minutes she hadn't come out, so I went to find her. I was looking into her bed and couldn't see her then spotted her on the floor. Are you ok I asked? I can't stand, I feel sick and dizzy she says. She was looking terrible, so I rang DH and the hospital and got her straight back in to emergency where they discovered her oxygen was very low and her heart rate was elevated. They done another x-ray and found that while the first part of the infection was coming good, she had a new development of the infection starting to spread. Her temperature has been fluctuating, they have changed her antibiotics to some stuff that she absolutely hates and she has been on oxygen since returning to hospital. She has come of the oxygen a few times but her level drops to about 80. It has been 2 weeks tomorrow since she first felt ill, and she has been on antibiotics for 11 days. I am really tired. Last night, I was in bed here by about 10:30 but couldn't sleep, I kept tossing and turning. I fell asleep about midnight I think but by 1am I was woken again from the nurses. Then one of the nurses was talking to me for about an hour. I got back to bed after 2am, got woken again at 3:30 am by the nurses coming in again, got back to sleep by about 4:30 and woken again at 6:30 again by the nurses. I had to go out this morning and had my alarm set for 7:15 but put it on snooze and didn't wake up until my DH came in to take over for me... I got a bit of sun today and tried to get a nanna nap in this afternoon, 3 times, tried, 3 times woken.... grrr.

Gem - still here, and no baby yet. Wednesday they'll be breaking my waters if I haven't popped before then. Just been getting irregular intense contractions since friday morning, so hopefully that means things are moving a bit.
I'm so sorry your DD is back in hospy again, give her a big hug from me, and I hope the new antibiotics clear up the infection very quickly. The poor thing for being so sick for that long, I don't know if I'd be able to cope as well as you are if DS got sick like that... I fall to pieces every time he splits his head open or gets a bad reaction to an insect bite :(

Thanks for the hugs, I'll pass a few of them along to DD :D They are keeping her in another night as her oxygen is just not good without the mask at the moment. Other than that she seems to be doing a lot better. Still coughing though.
