    Anyone out there studying

    Hi

Anyone out there studying at the moment?
I have just been accepted into Children Services III course through OTEN (tafe via corrosondance).
How do you handle being a mum and studying at the same time? and if you work how do you handle doing all three?

I'm not a mum *yet* but I study and work full time. I've had friends who have done their masters & phds while SAHMs. It takes an ability to juggle, an understanding partner and a quite place to study!!!!! I was just talking to one of my girlfriends who did her PhD when her twins were babies (she is a doctor) and she found doing work in 20 min blocks better than attempting to sit down for hours on end.

If I wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep, that is when I get up and do some study.

    Good luck with it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flexibility and good time management are the key! Like Shaz I didn't have children when studying but was working and volunteering (and being PG towards the end) at the same time. I found being flexible and having good time management got me through. Study when you can, even if it is only half an hour. And making time for your family. Even though your family might be understanding - make time for them so none of you resent your study time... Also saves your sanity!!!! Good Luck with your course!

I am doing a OTEN course. The cousre information tells me if I do 12 hours a week I will get it done in a year so I'm aiming for a year and a half to get it done. I agree I will have to stay off the net to reach my goal.

I studied fulltime but just dropped to part time as ive been so sick and will be looking for work till bubs is born, then ill be taking the first 6 months off study and just focus on being a mum then plan to study, work part time and be a mum. Try not to stress or over do yourself life is too short to be making yourself sick with worry over a piece of paper . Best of luck my nanna raised 3 boys during the day, worked in the evenings and did night school for a B Arts at Sydney university, shes my inspiration

Ive just gone back to studying full time, and while it is a juggle im loving it so much it overrides any tiredness lol. Its nice to do something for yourself again. I think the key is organization.

I'm juggling a .75% load and being a SAHM as well! DS is in CC 3 days a week but its still a stretch at times where there is hours of reading to do and assignments due.

Thankfully I have a wonderfully supportive partner who keeps me motivated and helps me out heaps!

Organization and motivation are the keys!

I am studying part time with 2 boys. I have my 3 year old in daycare for 5 hours once per week, so dont really ever get a day break. But it is external and I am finding with a lighter load that I am managing ok. I commend mums/dads who can manage a big study load, I on the other hand would be terrible!

By the way, congrats on getting in.

It takes time, but it is able to be done!
