To manage with kids you need readily available and willing baby sitters.


Its a life decision as to whether you can cope with the lifestyle of needing to go to uni, study, go on placements etc and cope with kids.

Im pretty sure i will be able to cope.
I just hope i have alot of support from my family because from what i can gather im going to need it!!!

with good supports you will do fine.

I did my nursing straight from high school and i lived on campus so had no house or responsibilities to care for and it was full on and some very long days eg in 1st year we had classes 5 days a week and 1 day was 8am to 6pm lectures with about 1.5 hrs off during day.

When i did mid i cut my hrs at my job from full time to 2 days a fortnight. Had uni 2 days a week, clinicals 2 days a week and worked every other day for money at job or casual on nurse bank at a diff hospital and had to fit in assignments and study also.

I dont ahve a job at the moment so i dont have to worry about cutting back hours...
I get that it is going to be hard, is it rewarding?

very much so!!!!!!

Nursing and mid are both great jobs and because eventually you can do casual work can be very flexible which is great!!

And always desperate for staff at all hospitals you can pick and choose!

Ask as many questions at open day as you can. Write them down and maybe try and get to talk to the head of the dept instead of just a student.
Also ask about childcare at the Uni as that might be a help when you need it

Sounds like you will be fine as you have support. A bonus is that you will have school holidays off so that will take the pressure off the carers and give them a break.
