Nursing student and being vaccinated for placements?

You have to be fully vaccinated. I had to do a blood screen to check my immunities before they would say what needed to be given; luckily I was completely immune to everything so I needed no vax's. But its best to get started on it ASAP, takes awhile for immunity to build up, my Uni had us doing it in our first week of first semester!

I had to prove immunity to chickenpox and measles, mumps, and rubella, not for uni but to commence work. I had to immunised and prove immunity for hepatitis B for uni.

I'm going to the GP on Thursday. Hopefully they do a blood screen and I am immune to everything too. Otherwise I am not looking forward to having to fit all the jabs in in a short space of time.

it's a requirement to be vaccinated. I had to go get the blood test, I needed a measles mumbs abd Rebella booster, they advice to get the flu vaccine/swine flu vaccine but i didn't get that one.

What if you're pregnant?
It's not something I had thought of but I know my uni says full vax.

for the booster, I actually waited until after I finished breastfeeding. According the the drug preg / breastfeeding book - there is no known issue with the rubella booster, but there is not enough evidence to fully state that matter.

A decision you, your dr and your uni will have to make it you need it xoxox

Vaccination is mandatory for NSW Health nurses working in clinical areas. We are the only country in the world to mandate vaccination for any group of workers. Welcome to the dictatorship... *sigh*

You can fight it if you have the patience, but it's an uphill battle and will end in lots of threats to remove you from clinical areas.

I had to be fully vaccinated before placement. We were told at beginning of semester 1 and placement was near the end of semester two. Gave us heaps of time to get all the vaccinations, and for them to start working....

I have an appointment for Monday to get my blood tests done. I have no idea what I am immune to and am not looking forward to getting heaps of vaccines at once
