The whole reason I wanted to go to uni next year was to study something that I really enjoy doing - and hopefully I could use that in a career later on. I had particular interest in Sociology/Anthropology and Ancient History. As most of you know (and helped me with) I put an application in and a couple of weeks ago I was accepted! I was so so excited!
Well you would think that before I applied I would have checked that the "History" branch included Ancient. I just assumed it would cover both. NOPE!
They have also pulled the anthropology subjects for the course.
There is no point in me doing this course if I'm not studying something that I love. I'm so ****ed off!!
Macquarie University offers the exact course I want (a major in Anthropology) but applications closed on 28th September!!!
Do you think if I rang them this late they might consider my application?
I don't know what to do. I was so excited about studying next year and was dreaming about what careers I could do later on. But I don't want to study if it's not subjects I'm into.
ooh gutted 4 u amy! Knw what its like wanted to do accountancy through the open universety but its not available til nxt nov. Let us know what happens x x
Amy... How disappointing for you.
just a suggestion... If Macquarie wont take a late enrolment, why dont you just start working at this course do some generic classes and apply to Macquarie for mid term enrolments next year and transfer your courses over? At least that way you could get started?
You can usually change preferances late - ring up the Maquarie peeps.
Or what Rufalina said. You can probably use the classes for credit - you have to take classes outside your major anyway....
Yeah I agree with ruf, they'll usually let you change preferences, as long as the offers for that course haven't come out yet (generally January for Sem 1 2009), there might be a fee though you'll have to check on uac.
If not you can always log on to Macquarie Uni website, see what subjects you'd have to take, and try to take subjects at the uni you are enrolled in now that will be able to transefer over for credit. You could also contact Macquarie and ask for some advice on what subjects to take at the uni you're at now that would be able to be transeferred over. Student services should be able to help.
Thanks girls. I think I will ring Macquarie today and discuss my options with them. I suspect they will have a mid-session intake and hopefully I can get into that if I can't get into for the Feb 09 session.
At CSU I chose a major in Sociology because I could combine that later on with a post grad in Anthropology. Macquarie offer a major in Anthropology so I'm better off not starting at CSU and transferring. I'd rather wait for Macquarie.
I'll let you know how I go later today. Thanks for your posts everyone - I feel a bit calmer now!
