    Text Books!

Well, now that I have recovered from the sheer shock that was $525 spent on books today and I havent even got all of my prescribed texts yet... (and I still have to buy skills pack and uniform *sigh*)
I bought everything new because I like to keep things and it gives me some self-pride, I know it sounds stupid but it's good for me

In YOUR degree (mine is MID @ ACU if anyone has any specific advice) did you end up with new texts each semester, year or did some of your first prescribed texts last the length of your degree?

I have three must-have texts for one subject alone!
One of the others is a three pack worth about $250 and have been told it will only be used the one semester

Maybe I am naive but I guess my question is that is it standard to get new texts every semester?!
In my Arts degree (not that I attended ) I'm sure i only spent $200 in entire first year

When I studied BioMed, I boguht new textbooks every semester.

Nk no wait let me rephrase that. We had different texts prescribed for different subjects. After the first semester I bought second hand and older editions. Where I could, most of those texts became obsolete if they had newer editions, the way things move so quick in science.

For my education degree I am buying new because they aren't as expensive and they will hopefully last me.

I'm up for about $280 for my texts this semester, I like to buy the books new if I know I'll keep them for future reference. Otherwise I just photocopy the pages I need from the library.

I buy the essentials, ie: meaning I ask the kids that are a year ahead what's good and just buy those that I will need. I mostly Just read lectures and look online.
I brought one for last year and opened it once...

    Love MN ;-)
