I think I'll phone Deakin on Monday and find out if I am definitely out of the running for midwifery, or if there is some way I can strengthen my application before January. I would phone now but they are shut. Pesky part time helpline

did you end up calling to find out if there was anything you could do to strengthen your application Traveller??
I am now thinking contingency plans for 2012 incase I dont get an offer and maybe adding the diploma of arts business and sciences to my preferences to get a foot in the door with the plan to gain 18 months credit towards a nursing degree. Long way around but maybe the only way IYKWIM

I did call, and was told that not getting an early offer means very little, so not to change my application as most offers are made in January. I was then told by a friend that Deaking almost never give an early offer to someone who has applied with a STAT test - I wish I had known that before I got all anxious about the early offers

January not so far away now My contingency plan is to do external units at Deakin and voluntary work in a care setting so my application is stronger next year if I need to apply again.

I didn't get in :-( I'm not totally devastated though - was wondering how I would juggle study, a toddler and being pregnant! I might apply for an irregular offer and defer if possible, not sure yet!

Sorry you didnt make it Baby.. they do a late offer though dont they? in two weeks

I wasnt waiting for a uni offer but I was waiting for a TAFE offer.. Cert III in Community Services Work.

    and I got it!!

hopefully now to cross my fingers we can afford it (no darn HECS for TAFE) and the course days I can do with the kids...

i still cant believe i actually got accepted.. I havent properly studied in over 10 years and applied purely with my SACE score from 2001, didnt take their STAT test and was told by many that I should have... thankfully i had on the job training for Hungry jacks which got me my cert 4 in bussiness management which is what i think would have put me over the line
