Who's applying for uni next year?

Yeah I was going to do that to Sushee, but I only had to do the one component to.

10 days till early round offers! ( sorry girls I am on the count down to the big let down for me not getting in! )

aww Bec Its such a boring test anyway, and I'm the same as you - I do well if I enjoy what I am studying. You still have a chance if your mark is over the minimum. I guess it just depends on how many other people applied? I did well in the quantitative but not in the verbal section (because I am just not good at arty farty stuff) I think my verbal score was 151 and my percentile in the verbal section was like 33! but I got 165 and 83 in the quantitative section, and then they averaged it out and I'm still disappointed with my mark though. I have no idea what to think of those scores and the uni coulnt give me much info except for the minimum from last year. When I got my result I was so upset because I thought I had totally wasted the $105 it cost for the test and the $40 or whatever it was to apply for uni. But I guess its one of those things - if you dont get in you can always re-do the test or try alternative ways to get into uni like TAFE or something.

but now I just have to wait wait wait.

I hate waiting! I applied for a job the other day and Ive stayed home all day today in case they call!!! PMSL I am such a lost cause somethines I think.

Aww Relle, how exciting that early round offers come out so soon. How many rounds of offers are there? Keep positive! What did you apply for? If it was midwifery or something, I'm sure your Doula-ness would help you get in (if they count it).

Waiting for home time kills me...lol which reminds me must do some work instead of searching for any snippet of information on STAT results university acceptance and stop annoying universitys.My desk is like a bombsite and I've had no lunch but ate lots of lollies and thinking about a hotdog!!

hehe Bec hope the uni can give you a bit more info. They're a bit vague on their websites arent they.

Karina: I got an email back today saying :

No there is no minimum stat result for our University but you need to have in mind that your application is assessed based on a number of aspects which includes your qualifications, work experience, stat result etc etc to select the best possible candidates.

I have finally been given a TER score that is above last years intake....but with all that taken into account .....its still in the hands of the powers that be
At least I have a TER that is competative and will be considered and that is all I can ask.

Yay!! Good news on your TER! Mine is too old to be considered but I wouldnt want them to anyway! Its a good 20 - 25 points belore the absolute minmum!!! haha I suck!

145 is a TER of 70..that is the cut off for UniSa nursing it increases one or two points above that, each 2 marks above that, I was amazed that a guaranteed entry to my Uni was only 50 !! last year that is with no CSP assistance. LOL I am not that rich to be able to do it that way thou ;)

OK, Bec, you seem like the wizz at all things to do with TER, I scored an overall score of 160 with Percentile Rank of 74.4. Any ideas, what sort of a TER I may have from this. I didn;t have to sit both, so can't plug it into the link Sushee gave us. Yep, under 48 hours to go till early round offers - Goodluck anyone in for early rounds!

How exciting. Do you get to look them up on the internet or do you have to wit for your offer in the post?

Karina - My friend was successful with an early round offer last year, and she received hers via email directly from Deakin, but looking at the VTAC website I think we can log in there as well.

I am with you on my old TER as well. I would not want them to consider it at all, it was terrible! I was interested in a career when I wasted my time away in Year 12!

It's okay Relle, January will be a good month for us. You've got me worried now about my score though, if your score didn't get you an early round offer.

I think you will pick up an offer Relle in Jan as for me nah not even going to plan my life around it.

Awww Bec, I am not in the least bit thinking I will be successful. I was counting early round offers as my best chance, but I have since checked and my first 2 preferences didn't even offer places in the early round offers.

I am feeling very deflated and dejected, 2nd year running. I just don't know what so many other people have over me. :(

Aw Relle, if they didnt offer any places in your prefered course yet you are still in with a good chance cause there will still be spots left for you! I cant remember what you applied for (was it direct entry mid??) Maybe the people applying are already midwives or nurses and that is why you have previously not been offered a spot. Its just so competitive too. But now youre a Doula and they might regard that highly!!! SO dont feel bad.

Me on the other hand, well with my craptacular STAT score and no relevent qualifications or work experience... you'd definately have more chance than me!

I got into my Bachelor of Nursing! I wasn't expecting to find out until January but my course was an early offer one because of the requirements - I need to get a first aid certificate and also start a course of hep B vaccinations before the start of 1st term. Have already booked for the first aid and will be seeing my doctor early in the new year to find out about the hep B.

Sorry to the girls who didn't get early offers...don't be too hard on yourselves though! There is still January.

Woohoo Bon - Way to go! Congratulations hun. Girls I am thoroughly confused, was my Stat score reasonable or crap?

I thought yours was mighty decent Relle :dunno:. Mine was not far off yours and my MIL reckons I should get in no probs despite BPsych being competitive. Mine was 174 quantitative and 171 written english, which is a TER equivelant of 91. And you're not far off me, so your TER equivelant can't be much less than that.

145 is the SA internal nursing STAT cut off they say that about a 165 - 170 is a midwifery cut off. Dunno that is what I hear ;) That is when you will be considered of course that allows for a million people that have applied that got a mark higher.

woohoo! at least I got over the 145 to be considered.. although they did tell me it was 153?? anyways! not to worry.

Oooh Sushee, you smartypants!! You did so well in your STAT. Congrats! I'm sure you would be able to get into something.

I want offers now! I hate waiting :( DH already got the letter to tell him he got into his postgrad course for Education. No fair!

I got some promotional material from Curtin (my first preference uni) yesterday thanking me for choosing them and providing me with a login to access their online events over the summer. I wonder if this bodes well for me. :P

I logged into my uni application thingo today and they had link there to check offers - I missed out on an offer today, but there are more in jan/feb! Hoping for some good news then. But right now I feel a bit stoopid. I dont think I would get in at all.

Sorry about no offer today but hey how boring would it be knowing you have a placement this early :)
We have early then 2 3 and 4th round offers starting in Jan so I'm over the initial disappointment but live with hope. I'm sure there will be alot more smiling faces in here in January.
Sushee: I'd give curtain a call and play dumb..lol. Asking if you have been accepted as the paperwork received was confusing .

I got an email from TISC and over 600 people have appled for my course :(. Of those 250+ have made it their first preference. I wonder if there'll be room for a 37 yo mum of 4!

Karina hun, you are not stupid. The STAT test doesn't credit you for all your well-roundedness as a person. Hey, i reckon there is little harder than being a good mum, and I don't think as women we get credited enough for that as life experience. Isn't it one of the most challenging jobs to raise and nurture another human being? This is why paper tests will never be a true judge of our cluey we really are.

well i'm probably over before i start i was so excited today i received my maths and written exams for TTp entry and they scare the crap out of me i got half way through the maths one before tears and the english was fine but on the life of me i can't write 250 word on why i aggree that television and the media in general have great influence over shaping peoples ideas i'm only up to 145 words Mwahhhhhhhhhhhh
