With 2 bad responses from the Hautes, I might give them a miss!!!
I might get a trial pack from Bum Genius and Green kids, to give them a fair go...The template for the inserts would be great too!!!![]()

Im a fan of Haute......i use and stock the Breathables...ive never had a problem with this wet feeling?
Bumgenius are a good brand....very popular
Green kids are good...but IMO dont fit the OSFM category all that good. They dont fit DD2 and she is only 10kg....
Happy Heinys i love!
Bubblebubs i love
Swaddlebees are another OK kind too!
I'm another GK fan. I have them for both my DDs and love them. I've tried hautes, Bum Genius, monkey doodelz, pea pods and happy heinys and the GKs won no contest.
I agree that not all nappies fit all kids - I know Monkey Doodelz have a great rap from other mums on BB but just didn't suit DD#1. I've found the GK to be great for both girls though - started using them on DD#1 when she was about 7 months and have used them on DD#2 since she was about 4 weeks old, weighing about 3.6kgs. DD#1 is still using them too, and she now weighs about 10kgs.
I don't use MCNs overnight though - I've tried the GKs with boosters and also I have a couple of Wild Childs but I found they all leaked. So, DDs are in huggies overnight, which get them through uninterrupted until morning.
I made an order!!!!
1 Haute Pocket One Size Pocket (includes 1 Microfibre inserts)
1 Green Kids One Size Pocket- Anytimes (excludes insert)
1 Kangas One Size Pouch Pocket (excludes insert)
1 Happy Heiny One Size Pocket (includes 2 microfibre inserts)
All for $77.50, posted!!!!!
Now I'll just get a Bum Genius, and I can try them all!!!!
I'm sooo excited!!!! Cant wait to stick a cloth on Kanes little tushie!!!!
Will just have to get MIL some material to make a pile of inserts for me...
Yay! How exciting.
I like the insert in the hautes. You get two - a small one and a big one and they snap together.
I've got a bum genius. Its ok, but I found the tabs started looking a bit ratty after only a few uses. The inside bit (that goes against the bum) isnt fleece. Its something else (dont know what exactly..) and I find that it doesnt seem for come out quite as clean as the other nappies... like the poo stains it worse or something.
I guess thats not a big deal though for some people - I just like it to look clean (why do they make them WHITE!!??)
The Nappy Hunt is on for the month of September
If you go to the Diaper Decisions website, and join the AUSTRALIAN nappy hunt, even if you don't participate (it's a treasure hunt where you visit many MCN websites searching for icons) you STILL get sent (just for signing up) a Nappy Hunt Discount Code.
Many MCN shops sponsoring the hunt, give you great discounts, for using that code AT CHECKOUT.
what you have bought so far
1 Haute Pocket One Size Pocket (includes 1 Microfibre inserts)
so you would have chosen either APLIX or FRONT SNAPPING CLOSURE
1 Green Kids One Size Pocket- Anytimes (excludes insert)
that only comes as APLIX CLOSURE, good to get the bamboo insert and booster
1 Kangas One Size Pouch Pocket (excludes insert)
i think that one is a front snapper closure too
1 Happy Heiny One Size Pocket (includes 2 microfibre inserts)
i suspect this has a microfleece inner
the fabric inner of the Greenkids and the Bum Genius, is SUEDECLOTH, a stay dry fabric.
the other stay dry fabric that many pockets and AIO's have as their inner, is called MICROFLEECE.
for your older two, you may need bamboo inserts, to make the nappies last a decent time.
THE SNAPS.
it's WHERE the snaps are:
ON THE FRONT, THE TUMMY
those snaps are to make a nappy into a OSFA
set on the smallest setting - for the newborn
set on the largest setting - for the toddler
it alters the LENGTH or RISE of the nappy
when i mentioned FRONT and SIDE snapping nappies to you, that refers to snaps DOING UP the nappy each time you put it on your child.
These snaps are at the waist line, going across the nappy. (for front snappers)
Whereas the rise adjusting snaps (only on OSFA nappies) are going vertical down the nappy.
it's much easier when you have two lined up together, to compare
if i was allowed to post URLS, i could post links to photos of what i am talking about - you know, a picture tells 1,000 words!
Babysoftlandings also has a mixed package of pockets (special deal) where you buy a selection of pockets. Actually Darlingsdownunder might have a similar thing too.
Nurture Nappies has a MIXED PACKAGE where you can try out all the styles (fitted and cover, pocket, aio), Berry Baby, DarlingsDownunder (Poppit's Pick), and Baby Blossom do mixed packages too. Great way to decide what you like. You "roadtest" them on your bubs, then at least you know what you like, adn what suits them.
Wonderful that your mum can sew inserts for you. Bamboo is expensive to sew with, so practise and make ALL your preparation BEFORE you cut into it!!
Wash it twice as hot as your machine goes/
Hot dry it twice too
this stuff does shrink, so don't skip the washing before you sew
That sounds great. Only thing I would say though is that one of the great things about the GKs is their inserts - you may be a bit disappointed with its performance if you don't use a GKs insert.
I think ur choices are good.
Green Kids are a great choice and the inserts can be bought cheaply from Green Kids if you email them and ask about there seconds (they are $60 fro 10 insread of $10 each) and is nothing wrong with them!!! I used Green Kids every night on my DD with a GK insert and a microfibre booster, and we have never had a problem.
Just remember those its only the ANY TIMES that are recomended for night time. Funtimes and Minkytimes more day time use as not as waterproof. I find GK to be quiet bulky also so thats another reason its a night time nappy for us.
-BumGenius is a great choice - I LOVE MINE just be sure to get v.3.0 and a trial pack or pack of 3 is a great start.
I agree on the haute breathable whilst i have never had a leak she does feel wetter...
Another AIO that might be worht a look is an ITTI BITTI D'LISH or CLASSIC they are GREAT, perfect for a day nappy, nice and trim and look great.
trying to think of more!!!
Oh Baby Safari have a good Side Snap Nappy thats meant to be good and easy to use, i havnt got any yet but want too!!!!!
BbayBehinds are also a cheap option for AIO's, they do NOT last as long as an itti or g/kids but i got some for $18 each much cheaper then some others and they are great for day time use when you know they wont be in the nappy for a long time or a nap, i had a few leaks but mostly due to too much wetting!!!
hope i havnt blabbed to much, trial packs are a great way to start and soon u will have a fav 4 sure.
