haven't any of the mothers touch ones - and I got rid of the cushie tushies that I did have because they didnt' suit DS.

    Hi Mountain Mummy,

I recently converted to MCN (probably about 1 month). Its sooo addictive!!

As the ladies have already said, probably safer to buy a few to try out as babies are all different.

    Personally, I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee my Bumgeniuses.

They are a great fit for my DD (She is 6 mths, 7.1kg and has chubby legs) and I use them overnight as well.

Don't quite like the All in ones from BBH because they leak on DD but their bamboo ones are not too bad at all.

I found the velcro on the happy heiny too bulky cause DD has a small waist. Itti bittis are so cute and they have a starter pack for $49.95 but for me they only last approx 2 hrs on DD.

Best of luck and have fun if you decide to convert.

P.S Man you're thread is making my hands itchy again .... feel like buying more eek!

    Hi Phoenixml,

Thanks for sharing your experiences! My DS3 also has chubby legs, and I would be guessing not too far behind your DD weight wise (even though he is younger!)

DS2 is 2.5 and has skinny legs and a small waist which is why I'm looking at a few different brands. As I said, I'm hoping to be able to have a bunch of nappies that I can use on both, but if a couple suit one more than the other, that's no biggie! I'm sure DS3 will grow up to be just like DS1 and DS2 (long skinny legs and small waist) DD is still chubby, even though she is in between DS1 and DS2!

I can't wait to start my collection!! LOL!

I have just moved to MCNs and I LOOOOVE them!!!

A lot of those sites have a 'combo" pack, meaning a few different types in each pack. I got a few of those, and found which ones I really liked. It was a cheap and easy way to get a few different brands!!

I have been VERY lucky, and so far all the nappies work on Kane just great!!! But it will probably be different for Little Girl!!!

But I think I only have 5 different types, I NEED more!!!!

I would like to point out to you, the great adjustability you get with SIDE snapping nappies. My newborn had three rolls on each thigh and i was having a hard time getting MCN to fit her, without cutting off the circulation to the thighs (leaving red marks). I posted about this problem (all i owned were FRONT snappers and aplix MCN) and got told about side snappers. I bought some and they do excatly what i was told they do.

they fitted my baby great when she had three rolls on each thigh
they fitted my baby great when she got mobile and loss the rolls

you do up the waist SEPARATE to doing up the legs
so no more cutting off the circulation to the legs (just to get the waist right).

so if you have a skinny toddler, and a chubby nb, i coudl nto hear that and NOT tell you about sidensnappers!!!

    some examples of sidesnapping MCN

    fitteds:
    very baby (at the weewuns)
    cute tooshies (at bubblebubs)
    swaddlebees organic velour fitteds

    pockets
swaddlebees (sized ones not the OSFA)
the sized ones are narrow crotch, the OSFA are wide crotch style
blueberry (the weewuns and baby blossom)

    aio's (or ai2's)
    sugarpeas (nurturenappies, babyblossom)
    berry plush (babysoftlandings)
    dragonflymagik

    covers
staccinator (so simple is the PUL one, wool and fleece)
    sugarpeas (wool and fleece types)
    berry plush (minky)
    very baby (fleece)
    swaddlebees wool covers
    motherease airflow (PUL)

Congrats on having a go at cloth it is awesome and it does save a lot of money. I love not having to go down the baby isle in the shops anymore! And the whole water/wash arguement as the other ladies have pointed out is very outdated. i wash Ari's nappies in with her cloths or the towels (after a pre rinse) so there really isn't any extra washing going on in our house anyway. Money wise, i started with 5 MCn and some terry squares and every time I didn't have to buy a pack of disposables I bought a new nappy! What a great reward for using cloth going shopping :-)

There are quite a few one size all in ones out there that work really well. We have a bum G, nappilicious and , abby grow and they all work really well for us but Ari has only had the one size since she was over 10kg so not a good test but they work well for us.

Mediums are also good value as they mainly go from 5-11kg and most people find the fit even larger than that.

Gigi has given you a great list of nappies to have a look at, I'm sure you'll be hoooked in no time.

    Have fun

    Thanks gigi and saram ...

I weighed my two little men yesterday - DS2 is just over 12kg and DS3 is about 7.5kg (little chubba for 3 months old!! LOL!) Is it possible that they'll both fit into mediums??

MM - depends which brands you are after..
For example - DS is 12.5kg, Miss M is ... gee I dunno... maybe 5.5?

They both fit into the medium Itti Bitti's..
DS fits into medium Widdlewuns - they are far too big for Miss M - the rise is quite high on them.
DS is in the Large Swaddlebees - mediums don't fit Miss M yet.
(Racking my brain trying to think of other sized ones I have..)

ok, two babies, one 7kg, one 12kg.

the way to choose a size that would fit both - EASY

choose the brands that do "Size 2" - which is usually 7 - 16kg

    like

    • bits for bots quick dry ai2's and fleece pockets
    • dragonflymagik ai2's,
    • totsbots fitteds
    • nicnaps aio's

i know there are more, but there's four to start you off.

and some brands do a LARGE which is also 7 - 16kg range.

in swaddlebees sized nappies (fitteds and pockets), medium is 5 - 11kg, large is 10 - 17kg.

is Mr 7kg still at the runny explosive poo stage? if he is, i would stick with fitteds and leg gusset covers for the runny poo stage (for him). two lines of defense.

    Hi MM!

I bought a peapod as part of my display stock, for when people ask what they are like, so when I tried it, this is what i found: The snaps are only on the very ends of the tabs, so if your bub is on the smallest setting you will get something called wing droop, where the ends of the top of the nappy pull down and end up coming out of the leg holes, thus providing massive leaks.

Many babies fit different types of nappies. Gigi's DD suits mainly narrow crotch nappies (see Gigi, I pay attention ) Whereas my DD's only suit wider crotch nappies. I have more trouble with side snappers, but Gigi has trouble with front snappers. Try lots of different types, and if you arent against using second hand nappies go to buyforbaby dot com dot au.

Some BellyBelly market place members do discounts that work out cheaper than the packs on their parent sites. Keep an eye on the BB classifieds too.

When we first started, I did buy lots of different nappies, I have some Mommy's Touch, lots of Cushie Tushies, some Bum Genius, a BabyBeeHinds Hemp, a BubbleJ, a BabyBeeHinds Magicall, a Baby Kanga's; which all work well for us. I also have some SwaddleBees, which I am passing on to Gigi as they dont work for us.

I stocked up on what worked best for us, and could be adapted for night use with an extra booster and a wool soaker.

I hope all this waffle is helpful for you hun
