Well done hun, i think looking at 365 it's a great way of not only growing as a 'photographer' but being able to look back over the year and realise what you've accomplished, both in life and in taking pics :):
Am about to charge the battery now, then going for a walk with Kate07 if the girls are lucky we might stop at the fire station and see the trucks si would be nice to get some pics.

i just finaly figured out how to edit the dates on the 365 page :doh: how i didnt see that befor is beyond me! seems "someone" (im going with df:lol:) set the date to last year the other day, so i was a day ahead yet a year behind! i might have a look at some of those picture editing things to... see if i can bring back my creative bit that died long ago!!!
haha im just the same for me its about my memories not the camera and the equtment:) you so keep going chicky babe i tried to download picaso last night and nearly blew me computer up pmsl i have bloody photos going everywhere i asked it to upload from my computer soooo off it went uploading 15.000 photos and i couldnt stop the stupid thing rofl oh i tell ya what im sticken with what i know lol.:
I have to learn how to use GIMP.. maybe i should find an online tutorial for it... anyone else use it and know HOW to apply the great affects
Barney, do you have an external hard drive to back up your photos? That's a lot of photos if something was to happen to your computer.
ZF, I've downloaded GIMP and played with it a wee bit but didn't find it easy to use. I've been using picnik and picasa.
Gimp can seem confusing at first but once you understand some of the concepts it gets a lot easier to manipulate. There are tutorials for starting out on the gimp site that you should have downloaded from, under documentation.
I'm about to add a photo for yesterday. I just wanted to say though, that I am not doing the 365 challenge for improving my photography skills, although that might be a bonus. I'm doing it for posterity and to capture some moments over 2011, and practically all my photos will be on my iPhone camera. I like my DSLR but a lot of my "snapshots" are just on my phone. I just wanted to put it out there, cause I know some people are feeling like they have to take a fantastic, award-winning photo every day - that's certainly not my motivation and I won't be winning any awards :D

and me too she is named TALLULAH SCOUT SMITH and dh got her for me when we were going through trying for a baby ourselves and she has red hair too in a pony tail and pink pants on ....awwww and i still love her..im gonna get a pic of her tonight and show you lol.:):
Tooks some pics today but not sure i like them, will be doing some gardening today so MAYBE i can get that pic of the girls or a nice flower today...

Driving home this morning I spotted 2 tawny frogmouths nestled in a tree !!!I reversed 50m like a crazy woman, hoped like hell that DD would keep sleeping & leapt out to snap away (iPhone) like a woman possessed!! Went back later with "real" camera but couldn't get as nice a shot. Theyre a but smaller than I wanted (oh for a crane or a ladder mwaha) but it was fun nonetheless. Think i'll have to upload them for today.
Isn't it amazing how your eyes open up to the world when trying to get the photo for the day?
I was hanging clothes on the line yesterday and spotted the butterflies in the trees above, ran inside for my camera.
Belfie, what megapixels is your camera? You might be able to process the photo in picnik???
Hehe we have so many butterflies in our yard ATM that DD1 runs around yelling.. "mum gets a photos" :rofl: hmmm 1 too many butterfly attempts me thinks.
I'm just taking totally random ones. Not in the best headspace for photos right now but I'm pushing on.
You do start keeping an eye out for the "shot", my bestie is doing her Masters in Photography and when we hang out we're forever talking about how we'd frame a certain shot.

DD you could, i don't think it's about the 'quality' of the image IYKWIM... it's how many views and if anyone puts it as a fave.. you've got some great pics from your phone.
ZF - You think? I've looked through the Favs before and seen them as being the ones that are modified using such programs as GIMP and Photoshop (etc)

Does anyone else take a pic, view it then go back and take about 10 more before looking again, each time zooming in or out or moving a little just to see how it works out.
I find often that i need to take my time, some days i just want to click click click and get THAT pic but then it's soooo not what i'd seen when i look at it
Yep, I do that. Today, took a few photos of DS and I was like 'I love that photo' (It'll be on FB when we get home so you'll see it) and tried to take a few more photos of him - but that one just stuck out at me. I took more photos to see if I could improve on it, but there's no improving an already perfect photo :)
I do that but I take sooo many photos. With my fabric photo yesterday I think I took over 30 before I decided on one.. and the one I decided on was about the fifth one I took. Obsessed much? haha:

I don't edit mine, I take the shot and upload it wherever I am. Maybe I'll start editing when I have the computer set-up at home.

I just saw a thread on the 365 website about 'The Daily Shoot', it's a site that suggests themes for the day... good for those days when you need some inspiration.
That sounds good CBG - I went for a walk with my camera this arvo but wasn't at all inspired, I took loads of really boring shots. Creativity is MIA today I think! I still don't know which one I'll use.
I don't think a good photo is just about the camera you shoot it with or the software you edit it with, sure it helps, but if you can't compose a good shot then no camera or editing will help you. You can learn to use any camera/software but the really creative bit is seeing a subject and capturing it's interest in the right way for the viewer to see what attracted you to it in the first place. There is some real talent coming from this forum :)
I agree Swoop, I'm not feeling very inspired today. I'm hoping the moon works for me tonight. I took a photo on the 15th and I really like the tones, where as last night seemed too bright and lacked the variations in tone.
I think for me, all the techniques I learnt in Art and Photography in High School are still being implemented to this day. I think the strongest points I remember are: Rule of Thirds (think of a grid in the view finder), Depth of Field (DOF) and Directional photos.
Sorry for the overkill on this thread, just watching Double Exposure on Arena. The photographer was describing what he does (think Arnie Schwarzenegger) "What is it we do with our photography? We take pictures, yes! We dress girls up, yes! We have hair and makeup, but the real essense of what we do, we are professional seducer". :rofl:
CBG I'm going to try a moon shot too, not tonight but soon. I was inspired by one on 365 just taken with a Panasonic Lumix, you can even see the craters.
Swoop - I agree, a fancy expensive camera doesn't mean good photos. If you have an eye for composition and light any old camera will get great results.
