Awesome, can't wait to see it.. haven't been to the Rialto.

Does anyone else take a pic, view it then go back and take about 10 more before looking again, each time zooming in or out or moving a little just to see how it works out.
I find often that i need to take my time, some days i just want to click click click and get THAT pic but then it's soooo not what i'd seen when i look at it

Yep, I do that. Today, took a few photos of DS and I was like 'I love that photo' (It'll be on FB when we get home so you'll see it) and tried to take a few more photos of him - but that one just stuck out at me. I took more photos to see if I could improve on it, but there's no improving an already perfect photo

I do that but I take sooo many photos. With my fabric photo yesterday I think I took over 30 before I decided on one.. and the one I decided on was about the fifth one I took. Obsessed much? haha

Congrats to all you talented people who've been on the popular page! Your photos are awesome, well done

I don't edit mine, I take the shot and upload it wherever I am. Maybe I'll start editing when I have the computer set-up at home.

ZF - just as well I didn't take a photo of the shopping of the last two days the concept stores at Chadstone will be the death of me.

I just saw a thread on the 365 website about 'The Daily Shoot', it's a site that suggests themes for the day... good for those days when you need some inspiration.

That sounds good CBG - I went for a walk with my camera this arvo but wasn't at all inspired, I took loads of really boring shots. Creativity is MIA today I think! I still don't know which one I'll use.

I don't think a good photo is just about the camera you shoot it with or the software you edit it with, sure it helps, but if you can't compose a good shot then no camera or editing will help you. You can learn to use any camera/software but the really creative bit is seeing a subject and capturing it's interest in the right way for the viewer to see what attracted you to it in the first place. There is some real talent coming from this forum

I agree Swoop, I'm not feeling very inspired today. I'm hoping the moon works for me tonight. I took a photo on the 15th and I really like the tones, where as last night seemed too bright and lacked the variations in tone.

I think for me, all the techniques I learnt in Art and Photography in High School are still being implemented to this day. I think the strongest points I remember are: Rule of Thirds (think of a grid in the view finder), Depth of Field (DOF) and Directional photos.

Sorry for the overkill on this thread, just watching Double Exposure on Arena. The photographer was describing what he does (think Arnie Schwarzenegger) "What is it we do with our photography? We take pictures, yes! We dress girls up, yes! We have hair and makeup, but the real essense of what we do, we are professional seducer".

CBG I'm going to try a moon shot too, not tonight but soon. I was inspired by one on 365 just taken with a Panasonic Lumix, you can even see the craters.

Swoop - I agree, a fancy expensive camera doesn't mean good photos. If you have an eye for composition and light any old camera will get great results.

Watching Double Exposure, I'm loving watching the editing process using Photoshop.

Totally agree Swoop, I reckon composition is much more important than equipment

I am finding that I am really getting to know my camera and refining my skills as I go, but my motivation is recording a year of my DS's toddlerhood. I thought I'd soon run out of subjects to shoot, especially on the days I work - eg how exciting can the daily routine be?? But then my toddler taught me that he learns something new everyday or makes an exciting discovery - so the added bonus to this project has been to teach me the wonder of a toddlers world and not get caught in the daily drag IYKWIM

For those who are struggling with GIMP or any other photo editing software for that matter, when I am having trouble getting photoshop to do something I can usually find a tutorial video on You Tube to show me what to do, might be helpful if you seach You Tube perhaps (I find it much easier than trying to decode written instructions hehehehhe)

Here is my pic from today

LOVE LOVE LOVING this thread girls, you are giving me so much inspiration for photos - or is that plagiarism? Hehehe either way the photographer in me thanks you x x

Awesome photo, Mummy Naomi. I love it!

I was going to start my own theme thingo this week, probably a colour or something like that, but I only had about 10mins spare to get an actual photo so I just went with anything. Lol. I might do an outdoor-sy ( That's a word, right? ) theme depending on how I feel tomorrow.

    Happy snapping everyone!

I almost forgot to take a photo today! So it ended up being of my cat as the kids were asleep already.
