Bummer about the US one we got ours at HN, they price match well and bargaining meant we got a huge memory stick( which u need for HD video) for nothing plus a bag and 60mm lens etc
I got mine on Ebay ... it was $700 cheaper than in store and it was BNIP.
Buying from a camera place overseas would have been a cheaper price initially including the postage but because it was over $1000, there was a risk I would get a customs tax so we just went with an ebay seller. Just a word of warning though - if you are going to buy off ebay, double check that when the seller says they are in Australia, they are actually in Australia. I noticed lots of listings that said they were in Australia but looking at their terms and conditions, you could tell they weren't. They wrote about how they weren't liable for any fees that customs might charge during import.
Other places are also in Australia but say that the stock comes directly from the factory. If you are under the $1000 mark it shouldn't matter but if you are over, the taxes can be substantial.
I got my second lens from an overseas camera house and saved $600 even including postage and insurance. I just made sure that I used Paypal so if anything went wrong or I didn't receive my item, I could dispute it through a third party. The lens arrived faster than the camera did - 3 to 4 working days.

I got mine from top buy (an online shopping website). It wasn’t the very best deal out there but it was a very good deal and I went with it. I am very happy, I would definitely buy something like that from there again.
Thanks girls. I have been looking at ebay and am watching a few.
A girl I know got hers from HN too Tan and got an awesome deal but that was at EOFY. So not sure if I should have jumped in then. Might give them a try anyway!
Just Me- Thanks for the tip on paying tax. Mine should be quite a bit under the 1k mark, I only want a basic one to begin with and don't want to fork out a small fortune. So many places to buy from... eeeeep!
Ive looked at a few around the place. (Not game to buy yet plus no $$ to do so ). Cheapest offline was at The good guys with some haggling (hehe). Bing lee was a rip off, prices extravagant even after you negoitated. **** smith would price match the same as HN. Online a photographer friend recommended digitalrev and another ebay but not sure if Im game enough to spend THAT much money online anywhere. Eeeep!
Goodluck I keep going back to pages to drool over them hehe.
