my son has APD- just recently dx
its when the connections between both sides of the brain arnt there or limited so they take in information but they are not sure how to process it and what to do with info.
i had DS dx through an audiology clinic out of the university.
his working memory is also terrible!!
we are currently trialling a headpiece like a hearing aid for him to wear and his teacher wears a microphone. it amplifies her voice as he has trouble telling which voice he should be listening too- still wondering if it making any difference yet
what has worked heaps for him is a corrective reading program he is doing one on one with an intergration aide for 3-4 sessions a week. we have to pay for it, but man what a difference it is making to every aspect of his memory and his abilitiy to listen and take it in. it is making the connections in the brain for him!!!
