I am sure a diagnosis would help - either with resources as in an aid or at least with some support groups and/or pointers
Maybe a paed or GP can send you to the right person to assess him?
I am no expert but wanted to reply as it must be hard to see your son struggle like that and the sooner you intervene the better surely.
Would an OT help?
we just went through this (again) with dsd this time her gp referred her to a pead who did initial testing in his office to determine whether she would need to see specialists. The pead will refer to developmental optometrist, occupational therapist and so on for further testing. but yes the gp is the first point of call, esp if you want to go through the public system. We paid to send dsd to private specialists last time it cost an absolute fortune, but you dont need referrals as such, basically a verbal see this specialist from the school is enough to get the child in to them this way, so really its up to you. It is very hard to diagnose, as there are so many aspects of it, and there are also many different learning disabilities that are similar, but 9 is a good age to look into it (too young and they misdiagnose too old and they have already missed out on so much education). goodluck HTH

Yep we will go through public so I will go see my GP and see what he says.
He is a intelligent kid I don't want to see him slip through the cracks ITMS, I would like to get him the help to be the best he can be.
How is your DSD doing now?
