    TT boy with Autism

Josh took his nappy off last night to do a poo and I am putting Jocks on him today.

I was just wondering if I should do anything different with him to what you would do with a "normal" child.

    TIA

    I wouldn't do anything different.
He might just need more verbal/visual cues to remind him, depending on his level of Autism.

my BIL is now 8 and he is Austistic (sp) and he still has "accidents". He is getting better. I agree with the reminding. Also patience is a big key. Good luck darl! ur doing a great job! xoxo

rachel - keep doing what your doing babe. If he is happy doing what he's doing...then half the battle is won.

I know this sounds dreadful but my pead agreed with me...once our kids learn something its like its been programmed in...they never forget it. Its almost like their computers and need programming to get it right.

I use the sign language sign for toilet, which is to point with your index finger and tap your opposite palm twice to indicate toilet. I use this technique when we're out and about and dont want to have attention on him to embarras him. Its easier for autistic kids to comput to, a simple sign rather then a line of words.

be proud of your little man and be proud of what your doing for him
