Although I'm sure most of my MG think I'm a hippy.
Baaahahahahaha, my mother thinks that is what I am!! A breast feeding, co-sleeping, baby wearing hippy!!

    Needing reassurance (again) :(

DD just STILL isn't interested in food. I get all excited at the end of each meal thinking "wow, she's eaten loads" only for me to take her out of the high chair and the food all falls out of her nappy. She's still very much playing with the food, or licking the things that she likes and not actually eating anything. She does kind of eat grated cheese but that's it.

I'm really worried that she's not getting enough iron etc. I tried tonight to spoon feed her a yoghurt and she was having none of it. Snatching the spoon from me and doing it herself - messily.

I keep hearing that "it all falls into place at 9 months" but as the months go by, it's not for us.

I'm getting worried. She's also still breast feeding like a newborn and I'm getting exhausted.

Sorry for the vent. I trust BLS is the very best way to go but when you have a kid who doesn't eat anything then I just start to worry.

Mummasue - hugs for you.......it's hard isn't it. The way I justify is to myself is that I trust DD to breastfeed and get enough milk that way so I need to trust her to eat food and get all she needs. I am sure you have tried heaps of varied foods since she started BLS but maybe try some of the ones she refused or didn't seem to like earlier again and see if she'll take them now? DD hated oranges but now she loves them and sucks them dry. Maybe it is just going to take your DD to find a food she absolutely LOVES......just a suggestion.

How many meals are you giving her each day? We aren't doing lunch here but have just started afternoon tea and morning tea to add to the bfast and dinner routine.

We're doing every single meal of the day - I feel like I'm never out of the kitchen at the moment. Breakie, morning tea, lunch, arvo tea and dinner. I want her to get loads of practice and her hand/ eye coordination is awesome. She knows what to do - is just choosing not to at the moment. *sigh*

She gets a huge variety of things, some cooked and some raw. I know that the only thing to do is just keep at it but it's wearing me down a bit.

    She's such a boobie girl

Sue, my DS is interested in the food but not ingesting much - and when he does, it seems to be by accident. I'm worrying that when I go back to work (in 3.5 months!) that I'll still be breastfeeding him 12+ times a day. My heart says that's fine, but I expect the reality to be a lot more challenging. I trust BLS too, but sometimes I think force-feeding him pureed would at least make him drop some feeds before I go back to work

I'm sure your DD will hit a magical, mystical milestone, and everything will fall into place. for you - it must be frustrating in the meantime.

DS seems to be fine, but a couple of people from mum's group have found that it gets their LOs constipated, yeah.

    but thanks

Today DD tried some grated cheese, which she loved. Favourites are definitely thick spaghetti, avocado and stonefruit. So cute! I think she ate a heap of broccoli the other day as she literally did a green poo ha ha

Hi ladies - I've been away for a week and wow, was that an experience with an 8 month old. She travelled really well but I have to admit, I had one fleeting moment of wishing I was jar/tin feeding her. Usually we just give DD whatever we were eating but we flew in at 12:15am that night, went straight to the hotel and went to sleep. As it was overseas, we had to get rid of all food I had on the plane so the next morning we got up and went to McDonald's for breakfast. I felt like I could hardly feed DD Macca's!! She had baby mum mum's that I hadn't had to get rid of and some of the yoghurt DH had for bfast. I gave her some egg and a bit of sausage from my muffin. *sigh* Other than that we did really well, she LOVES sushi! I am going to get organised and make some at home - yumbo.

HOTI - it took me sooo long to work out it was YOU

Hey guys, I've been away for a couple of weeks after a self imposed ban from BB. I was tired of whinging about the same old thing - amongst other things.

Anyway, in that time, things have fallen into place. DD is eating way more than she was previously and her skills at the table are just awesome.

There's nothing she won't eat at the moment and we have tried her with strawberries again and she's fine.

    All good!

cassius: we slice a banana in half longways, and then lengthways, so he can grip the skin, and then he noms it from there.

DS *loves* baby fed weaning, and has not been fed from a spoon/fork/etc yet except for when he nicks a little of mummy's!

favourites are avacado, any meat, cooked tomato and strawberries, atm

and as for "hippy" comments, etc, whenever people make comments about us doing BLS/BLW, I tend to look at them blankly and say, "no, I'm just FEEDING him."

Just be careful with the frequency of giving banana's, when they are little too much can bind them up and give tummy pains. With both of mine, anywhere before 9 months, if they had it too many days in a row caused a prob, after about that age they were fine. I've known a few bubs much the same.
