    I don't think it will matter much in small quantities.
    We eat it about once a month, and DD has always eaten it.

    I think some people worry about the preservative used to salt the meat...having said that I think there are some butchers who do it a different way that doesn't use preservative. I wait till after 12 months to give it to my kids - they love it.

    Thew other thing you can do is wash is well before cooking, you wash the goo off the outside and buy the more lean cut and it isn't very salty at all.
