    ahhhh! OPINIONS needed!

ok well here is my problem... ever since i found out i was pregnant me and my DP have said we were going to call him Oscar i absolutly adore the name but im finding it sooo hard to STOP looking for other possible names. This is the biggest present anyone could give to there children/child. so i have made a "shortlist" of names and i guess when the day comes and i see his precious little face we will fully decide.
now here is the part where you lovely ladies/men come in...
i would love to hear opinions on the names ive got.. for all names i have a few different ways of spelling so would like your opinions on which spelling also and maybe some possible middle names to go with them i know its asking alot but i would appreciate it ALOT!

    ok so firstly..

OSCAR or OSGAR his middle name will be Slayde as it is my DPs mothers maiden name (keeping her happy)

    here are the possible re-placements

    AIDYN- or AIDEN
    ARCHIE- or ARCHEY
    ASHIR- or ASHYR
    ASHTON -or ASHTYN- or ASHTIN
CHASE- or CHAISE or CHAYSE or CHASSE
CHASEN (chay- son) or CHASIN or CHASYN
    MADDOX- or MADDOC or MADDOK
MANNIX- or MANNOX or MANNYX or MANYX
OAKLEY-or OAKLEA or OAKLI or OAKALI
    PHOENIX
    RYDER- or RYDAR
    COOPER
    JETT- or JHETT or JHET

    Thanks everyone

I like these spellings the best:

    Oscar
    Archie
    Ashyr
    Ashton
    Chaise
    Chasen
    Maddox
    Mannox
Oakley (to me Oaklea looks girly lol)
    Ryder
    Jett

But honestly hun if you just love the name Oscar, then don't second guess yourself - it will be perfect for your little man

    Nice list of names.

First of all, I like the 'traditional' spellings of all the names- much easier than having to spell it out every time IMHO.

I love Oscar, I think its so cute. I think its the best of all- unique but common enough that he won't have to regularly repeat it or anything.

    As for the others...

    AIDYN- like
    ARCHIE- like
ASHIR- don't like- sounds like it could be girl or boy
    ASHTON -like
CHASE- don't like. sounds like a soap opera character
    CHASEN - kind of like
    MADDOX- kind of like
    MANNIX- don't like
OAKLEY-don't like, i think it sounds more like a girls' name
PHOENIX- love (almost called our son phoenix)
    RYDER- like
    COOPER- like a lot
JETT- don't like only because its my mum's cat's name!

Oscar or Jett are very cool! I reckon stay away from the tricky spelling - your child will have to spend their entire lives spelling it for people, which is a bit painful.

I love Aiden, Ryder and Cooper (which is my DS1's name). I am not really a fan of Oscar for a child but that is ONLY because we had a dog called Oscar as a kid. I keep associating the name with the dog.

I agree that the more 'traditional' spelling will be easier in the long run as your DS will get sick of telling everyone how to spell it correctly.

DH and I wanted Cooper as a first child and thankfully he seemed to suit it. DS2 was a bit more difficult as DH wanted Denis as a name. I mean, Denis???!! For a baby. I kept thinking Denis the Menace and I am not THAT mean! I still don't know if DH likes Adam's name but I put my foot down and he is definitely an Adam.

Good luck and I am sure you will choose a fabulous and gorgeous name for your DS!

Far out Brooke, you do have your hands full with DP's helping....make sure you're the one that fills out bubs registration papers....

AIDYN- not usually a fan of weird speelings (for the poor child's sake) but I like the way this one looks
    ARCHIE- see above
ASHIR- or ASHYR - Darcy goes to school with a little boy named Asher - he is THE sweetest child. It is a little bit girly though.
    ASHTON - see above
CHASE- really not a fan of this one
CHASEN (chay- son) or CHASIN or CHASYN - or this one at all
MADDOX- or MADDOC or MADDOK - very Brangelina
MANNIX- or MANNOX or MANNYX or MANYX - sounds like a jungle animal
OAKLEY- hmmm nup too surnameish (not to mention the sunnies)
    PHOENIX
RYDER- or RYDAR - RYDER. RYDAR looks like a tool of my trade the LYDAR (we use it to check people's speeds before we write them a ticet)
    COOPER
    JETT-

My fave off the new list would be Asher or Aidyn, but I really like Oscar.

    Here's my two cents worth

    1. PHOENIX - This is by far my fave!!! Another one on our list (when ever we have #2!)
2.ASHTYN - Love it Love it Love it!
3.MADDOX - Our friend's little boy is Maddex and I love it!!! DH and I were talking about it at one stage!
4.OAKLEY - I like it for something different!!
5.CHASEN - Wow!!! Nice and differnet, I like it!!!
6.MANNYX - Once again something different and I like it, but wonder if it might be too close to Mannich (ei Mannich depression)?? Dunno?!
7.ASHYR - Very cute!! I know a beautiful little boy named Asher, he makes me love it even more!

    The rest -
AIDEN - There are so many Aiden, Hayden, Jayden, Brayden, Kaiden's around at the moment that completely turn me off
ARCHIE- or ARCHEY - My auntie has a dog named Archie so I only think of him, but DH LOVES it!!!
CHASE- - This was our #1 pick for a boy for a VERY long time (even before we had children), but it is so popular now that I have changed my mind about it.
RYDER - I know a few a all have turned me off
    COOPER - Meh
JETT - So many Jett's around atm!

    Hi brooke
i know itn't it horrible having such a big decision on our hands.
First i would like to tell you that i absolutely ADORE the name Oscar. It was always going to be my boys name too - but i have a friend who has used it.. so that screwed things for me, haha.

    Oscar
    Aiden
    Archie
    Ashyr
    Ashton
    Chayse
    Chasyn
    Maddox
Oakley (believe it or not this is another boys name i adore)
    Ryder
    Jhett

Great choice of names. My top one would have to be Oscar, followed by Oakley, then Ryder

    Good luck making your decision!

I love the name you have chosen Brooke - it will carry him well from babyhood into manhood LOL your DP reminds me of my DH when we were choosing names for our DS. His initials (first name and two middle names) are HSV - for holden special vehicles. I was recovering from the birth and still feeling the effects of the pethidine and epidural when I agreed to that one!
