    Amali, Mali, Alani or Imani???

We are still quite undecided on names, although we have kinda stuck with ones that we have liked from the start, but just changed spelling and letters etc..

We sort of have a boys name (Charlie) and are still just deciding on a middle name.

But for a girl, I am still unsure.........

    Which sounds best???
Amali, Imani or Alani or Mali??
And would Mali with two i's be weird? Malii

    Amali Noa
    Mali Aurelia

    Help and suggestions please!

I like Amali. I think Malii would be a bit strange but perhaps that is because I am used to scientific animal names. If she was a species we would say 'Ma li eye' IYKWIM.

I think Alani is beautiful. You could call her Lani for short which is very cute.

    Thanks Girls!

Even though I am now more confused, I think I can rule out Imani, and settle on Noa as the middle name. Aurelia is a name that I love whenever I happen to watch "Love Actually", and I watched a new release dvd the other day that had colin firth and helen hunt in it, and when I was watching the credits there was a Aurelia in it!! My middle name is Lee, which is not something that I love.
    DD is Tahlia Alyza.

Now it we just have to decide between Amali, Mali or Alani??

I feel like Mali sounds calm too...kind of chilled out I guess.

Hope you girls are having more luck!

    Amali Noa

    Mali Noa

    Alani Noa

DH is most keen on Mali, and doesn't like Alani at all. He doesn't mind Noa, he has much stronger opinions about a boys name!

Okay, this is totally hilarious, but I just checked the meaning for Mali on the best website ever (Behind the Name - the Etymology and History of First Names), and Mali is actually HAWAIIAN FOR CALM! This has to be a sign! Good Guess whoever thought it sounded calm!

Noa is Japanese for "Love and Affection", although I think that there are other meanings too.

Is Amali pronounced the same as Mali with the 'uh' sound at the front, or more as the main emphasis - AMA-li?

I like Mali on its own - its also the name of a Country.

To me, Alani is a boys name. I know two males (both islanders) whose name is Alani - they get Alan for short...

Personally i love Mali/Marli/Marley. Thats one of the names weve been tossing about.

    yeah, Amali is pronounced uh-mar-li.

Yep, I think I like Mali the best too..................

It is funny how typing it out so many times makes it more clear!

I was going to say Alani but I actually think Mali sounds better with your other DD's name.

The only thing that comes to mind with Marli is that new move Marley and Me - isn't Marley the dog?? Might not bother you and in any event, I doubt it's going to be a block buster that sticks in people's minds for years to come! LOL.
