Anyone named their kids names they don't particularly like??

So we have a dilemma!!
DH and I have had a TERRIBLE time this time around trying to find a name for this little girl...
NOTHING seems 'right', nothing we both love, nothing we haven't gone off pretty quick.

BUT...
There are 2 names that keep popping into our heads, and have done since the beginning, and they keep popping up day to day in randomness... The problem being they seem to 'fit' but neither of us particularly like them!
Is this odd?

The two names are Chloe and Imogen.

Like I said, neither of us are in love with either, in fact if I had told myself I would consider naming my daughter Chloe I might have stared at myself then broken down laughing. Really not a fan. ... Not sure why, maybe every Chloe I have ever known has been a stuck up cow?

ANYWAY! So, my question is, has anyone named their child a name they didn't really like just because it kinda felt "right"...?

I love all my kids names, but DD2's wasn't at the very top of my list.

DD2's wasn't even on my list, and while I liked the name it wasn't one that I absolutely loved. It just fitted.

But now knowing its meaning - she's definitely my "delight".

yep. Vy's name.
I really didnt particularly like it at all...the boys were hooked on it and it just didnt sit right with either of us but it felt right and so we choose it anyway.
We decided to make it our own via spelling and it did take a while for it to fit us but now, I couldnt have named her any different.
FWIW - Ive known a few Chloe's and they were the same as you mentioned

I was never 'in love' with DD2's name. Brianna. It does suit her though.
DD3's name was never on our list. I said once that I liked it, but didn't really want to use it (think about it... Skye & Summer?? lol) But when DH suggested it after she was born, it felt right Now I love it!

Yep, my youngest. His name was chosen purely by elimination... his name fit a looooong list of criteria: Had to be a short name with one syllable, couldn't have the same initial as other family members (everyone had to have their own intials so that when i do cross stitch samplers etc we all had our own letter), it also had to fairly uncommon, reflect our Swedish/Irish heritage, be easy to spell, and can't have belonged to anyone that we have ever known!!! So after flicking through baby name books the choice was fairly limited... which made it kinda easy in the end. Oh and yes, it "felt" right.

At the moment we are in the same boat as you with a name for our little man.

His middle name is already chosen as it is DH's father's name (DS has my father's name as his middle name). I really, really dislike DH's father's name but have resigned myself to the fact that I don't have much choice in the matter, and in the end it's only a middle name.

There is only one name that DH and I have agreed on so far, I certainly not as much as DS's name. I feel a little guilty about that too...

Yes. My DS1 has a name that I completely dismissed the entire way through my pregnancy. I considered having it as a middle name, but never as a first name because I knew too many losers with that name (his name is James)

But the minute he was born, he just looked like a James. I am glad I named him that because it does suit him so much and now I know an awesome James

that's pretty much how DS got his middle name. we had settled on his first name(ish) but couldn't work out a middle name, but wanted to give him one. after he was born (moment of panic as we realised we would actually HAVE to get ourselves into gear & make a decision), DP went home that night & went through a book of names. similar criteria to bath's - one syllable, a bit uncommon, easy to pronounce etc.

actually - i think we ended up with a middle name that is the same as bath's DS

now i really like it.
