Anyone named their kids names they don't particularly like??

that's pretty much how DS got his middle name. we had settled on his first name(ish) but couldn't work out a middle name, but wanted to give him one. after he was born (moment of panic as we realised we would actually HAVE to get ourselves into gear & make a decision), DP went home that night & went through a book of names. similar criteria to bath's - one syllable, a bit uncommon, easy to pronounce etc.

actually - i think we ended up with a middle name that is the same as bath's DS

now i really like it.

No, I actually liked Rhiannon but DH wanted it a bit more girly so she is Rhianna & I can't imagine what else we would have named her.

I don't love Chloe - I like it but it is my nieces name :-) I looove Imogen but it sounds awful with our surname

I don't like Ianto's name. I was hoping I'd be able to change Scott's mind about it in those last eight weeks, but obviously they didn't happen. I like looking at it, it's a good name on paper, but saying it out loud makes me cringe sometimes. If you're talking to me and I bring him up, now you know why I always hesitate before saying it. It's not that I don't want to talk about him, it's that I'd rather his name was something else. If he'd lived, I bet we'd be calling him by his middle name by now, or some nickname unrelated to his real name.

i couldn't help but pop into to say the name Imogen if i had to chose it for my own child it could easily grow on me

Can't use Isabelle, our surname begins with Bell lol And it is too common for me now.

Imogen was on our shortlist for a while. It could grow on you. I was thinking Immy or Gen for short.

Dont give up on finding that "just right" name yet, research, research, research. With #6 i was stressing because we couldnt find that name that gave us that "wow" factor, i trawled baby name sites and looked at movie credits and read everything i could really, then one day, there it was!!

With #1 though, i did find that we had a name we both loved and when she was born, every time i looked at her i kept thinking she was Rebekah (shes Ebonee), for about a month i struggled to call her Ebonee because the rebekah feeling was so strong but DH wouldnt change her name. So it can work both ways, u think u have the right name and they are born and they totally suit another name.

I say go in with a list, even if it takes you several days to name her, her name will come to you
