I heard the name Aurelia on a little girl yesterday and thought it was SOOOOO pretty!!!
Just wondering what a nickname would be? What would you shorten it to?
Middle names?
Do you like it?
Also... how would you pronounce it? For some reason I think the Aussie accent takes away the prettiness of it. A baby name website said it's pronounced Aw-REEL-ya. Although yesterday I heard it pronounced Ah-ray-lee-ah.

Oh very pretty! I would think it's pronounced "aw-reh-lia" and agree that nicknames would most likely be Lia and Rory
It's very similar to a French name I like: Aurelie pronounced "aw-reh-li" (the "i" sound is very sharp as in "lily" and the "reh" kind of rolls off the tongue. Soooo pretty! I also dislike how the Aussie accent changes the pronounciation of so many pretty names, but nonetheless it's still a beautiful name.
OK girl. What you have to do is jump in the car and go to the video shop and get out Love Actually. Actually - check your PM's I will send you the link to the best bit...
It will solve all your pronounciation issues and make you absolutely fall in love with the name...
It is at the top of my list but DH isn't quite so keen so we have agreed on it as a middle name.
Muppity that was perfect!! I hate to admit I have never seen that movie the whole way through and had no idea there was a character named Aurelia in it!
Aurelia is very pretty indeed. It's like a mix of Audrey and Amelia- both names I love.
I pronounce it Aw-ree-lee-a. Although you could say it 'Aw-ray-lee-a' if you preferred it that way....
One of the good things about Aurelia is that its not a name that will attract heaps of nicknames- its not so easy to shorten.
But I guess she may get 'Relia', 'Aury' (Aw-re), or 'Lia'.
I think Aury/Aurie is still cute.

: adding sentence
I like it. I'd pronounce it aw-REEL-ya- and I've never seen Love Actually- but I've sort of heard the other pronounciation. I haven't met any Aurelias, but my grandfather knew a man named Aurelio, pronounced ah-ray-lee-o. He was Hispanic, so I'd assume ah-ray-lee-ah was the Spanish pronounciation of Aurelia.
