    Boys name - pls help

Hi all. I am new to this forum. Just joined tonight. I am 34wks pregnant with no. 2 and booked in for a ceaser on 12th Jan 2010.

I have a boys name in mind, though unfortunately not many people I have told like it. I wanted a name that was not heard of often but nothing too unusual.

Could you please tell me what you think of the name Gerard Patrick - although I wanted to spell it JERRYD as that is how I would like it pronounced. Could you please let me know whether you:-

    like the name?

which spelling you prefer - GERARD or JERRYD (or any other suggestion)

Would really appreciate your help, have posted on other forums and not got many replies.

    Thanks,

honestly, i think Gerard is the less confusing way IYKWIM.
But its your baby, so you can spell it how you like

I prefer Jerryd. I like how it's pronounced better than Gerard. When I see Gerrard I think of some old dude, lol!!

I don't really like Jerryd, I think it looks a bit silly, sorry. Especially if you are wanting something not too unusual. Otherwise I don't mind the name, it is quite a strong name. Good luck

I think if you spell it Jerryd, its more likely they'll get Jerry as a nick name, so if you are happy with that? As a another alternative spelling, a friend of mine is Gerrard (with two r's rather than one). Jerryd definatley looks more modern, however I imagine you may have to get used of some people spelling it incorrectly.

BTW - good luck on the 12th, I'm due that day too

    Gerard definately!!

I think Jerryd looks awful. He will also have to spell his name to people his whole life and that isn't fun. I have to do it with my surname.

The only other spelling i can think of is Jerrod.

When I see the two together they sound completely different (even though you are taking one name from another IYKWIM).

My cousins DH is a Gerrard...and he gets the nickname Gerry.

I don't know if I really like the look of Jerryd - to me, it may as well be Jared....something completely different and not particuarly unusual.

Good luck on the 12th Jan
