Yep, I thought DD's name would be a less common name, but it seems to be popping up everywhere, tho I only know one othe IRL, here in BB land, there are little Lily's popping up all over! I can't blame people, it's a gorgeous name
Woops, I forgot to add the name The name we had picked was Sophia Eleni ( Σοφία Ελένη). I think it is a beautiful name for a little girl.
I like unusual names, with me being maltese and DP being Greek we dont want a too common name! We liked Eleni (helen in english, my ma's name and my middle name) but then DP's cousin named her daughter that. We liked Katarina, then DP's cousin named her daughter Ekatarina ... Now we're back to square one with girls names
For a boy we have 2 names
1. Sotirios iannis (Ιάννη) (after DP's great grandfather iannis (john in english) after his dad)
2. Vincenzo Joseph (Vin CHEN so) (Vincenzo my great grandfather, Joseph my grandfather)
Just gets so annoying iykwim?

Nah, We like the great grandfather & Grandfather names for the boys. DP doesnt really like his name, and I dont blame him - his name is Theothoros (Theo for short) we just dont think it suits the other names,
I know exactly what you mean. I had my boy & girl names picked out when I was in high school (a long time ago lol) and both have dramatically increased in popularity (now both in top 10 for NSW). DH didn't approve of my names unfortunately so I had to pick another one.
There is a US website that tells you how popular names are over the last 100+ years. It will be a bit different to Oz of course but I think they are very similar. I'll post a link. It's a government page so I think that's ok. - Here
NSW also has a similar thing but not quite as extensive. Here
I used these sites quite a lot when picking names for DS. Didn't really work though. In DS's daycare class, his is the only name that was doubled up
I think Sophia Eleni is a lovely name. Very beautiful and feminine.
