Its soooo hard - baby name thoughts

    Hey everyone,

warning lots of pregnancy waffle first

Dh and I have had a first name chosen for quite a while now. I won't spill the beans on it because I want something to be a surprise for everyone

The middle name has been more difficult though. We had one picked but I decided after a while it didn't seem right. I have been through baby books multiple times and nothing seems to fit.

I would love to use Louise as the middle name but DH doesn't want to because it was Nikita's middle name - my reasoning is if we hadn't gone through what we did, this little bundle would never have been here and it would be nice to "honour" Nikita's memory by giving Beanie her middle name.

So after MUCH deliberation we chose (or rather I chose) a middle name that I thought would sound pretty. My issue is it is a derivative of another name therefore does not have its own meaning - I like names that have their own meaning its just a "thing" with me.

Anyway I have tried to come up with another name but they are either too out there for DH or the first name would seem better as a second name if that makes sense??

Its going to be hard to comment on without not knowing the names, but I dreamt last night that I had had the baby and I told a work colleague her name (the recent first and middle name) and the work colleague said how pretty it was.

Is my subconscious telling me to just stick with it because we have had this name chosen for so long its kind of stuck in my mind??

    I think it is a pretty name I just don't like derivative names - weird aren't I!!!

Thanks for letting me vent. Its hard because no one except for DH and I know the name so I haven't bounced it off others.

I have been thinking about a similar thing this morning. There are two names we really like, but I don't like the meaning of the names. It prob doesn't help you, but it has helped me to know i am not the only one interested in the meaning of the name as well as the sound of it.

    good luck,

in one way or another, most names are a derivative of another somewhere - whether it's the feminine version of a masculine name, a regional variation of another name... i guess what i would be doing is looking at the original name from which it is derived. if the meaning of that name appeals to you, you're happy with the way the names sound together, run with it! it is very hard to find original names that aren't "out there" now lol.

have you thought about having two middle names xxx xxx louise? to honor Nikita while you're new DD still has her own identity (two names of her own kwim). DD's has two middle names - one that is hers, one to honor her angel siblings
